I was wondering what my chances are for ED at my two reaches Hopkins and WUSTL. Hopkins has about a 47% acceptance rate for ED, and i'm not sure about WUSTL. I've done my research for both and I know that i'd be extremely happy at either one.

(I made a post like this about finding college matches in the College Search section, but decided to make a post about my ED chances here.)

More information is needed. While your scores on the SAT Sub. tests are great, your SAT I might be marginal. Why not try an ACT, which all colleges now accept and which is more like the subject tests? Also, how much extra weight do your AP and advanced courses carry? If your school has a possible weighted GPA of 5.0 that is very different from a school that gives less weight to those advanced courses. Also, the quality of your high school is a factor. Even with all of this in mind, ED sends a clear message to the college (you can only do one ED) that they have you if they want you. Finally, I know at WUSTL, they pay a lot of attention to personal qualities which are gleaned from your essays, recommendations and contributions outside of the classroom. If your heart is in it, why not try ED, so long as you have some really good backups. Neither Hopkins or Wash. U. are gimmes. Do you have some good backups? What do you want to study?

My school gives an A in an AP course a 5, in an honors course a 4.5 and a regular course a 4.0.

I go to one of the top two high schools in my state (hawaii), but I know that still doesn't say much. I'm also in the top quarter of my class.

I want to study something like biology to eventually get into med school, and my essay will definitely include my interest in science.

My "maybe" schools are carnegie mellon, but my safeties and likelys are University of Washington, seattle, and UCSD. I'm also looking for more schools around the carnegie mellon area, if carnegie mellon is indeed a "maybe" school for me.
