He was rejected by MIT and waitlisted by Georgia Tech this morning. He hasn’t received any other decisions yet as they come out on April 1: Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon. Purdue’s decision should come in a week or two
Also, ACT score is 3rd highest in graduating class.
@viphan Purdue is really the only “safety”. He’s been accepted by University of Tennessee, Knoxville, but that’s his last resort as its not ranked/reputation for his subject. I thought Gerogia Tech would have been a match for me and him both but he were waitlisted
Purdue would be a high match, not safety for him. UMich CoE would be a reach. ACT 31 is the 25th percentile or less. Chance is not very good even if he is from in state.
@billcsho I got in to purdue in EA with a 32 ACT and a 3.75 GPA. Purdue’s ACT is like a 25-30 Also, a lot of the other applicants that I’ve seen on the EA thread for Purdue have stats lower than mine and still got in so it seems like a safety. I’d agree that Michigan would be harder so get into based on its average ACT scores
@Dhruv97 The admission stat of the whole school is lower than that for engineering. For 2013, the enrolled freshmen have mid 50 ACT 28-32. The admission stat is higher than enrollment stat as the top admitted students may go somewhere else (yield rate only 26% in 2013). Also, the admission stat kept going up in the last couple years as more students applying to engineering. That’s why ACT 31 is a high match for OOS applying to Purdue engineering as it is only around the admission average.
