<p>My friend introduced me to this site, and told me of this 'chance' thing, but she asked me to post a thread because she was a little scared to post herself.</p>

<p>*Her grades are not that great.. She slacked off quite a bit during her freshman year, but tried to get on track during her sophomore year; however, she transferred to a new school, which had a completely different system from her old school, so it was hard for her to adjust.. I'm really worried about her, so I also want to do this for her.
So if people could please chance her, she would really appreciate it. :)</p>

<p>She wants to apply to JMU (James Madison University) and she is currently a senior in hs, applying for JMU regular decision.</p>

<p>GPA:
2.5-2.7 UW</p>

<p>SATs:
570 CR/ 670 CW/ 680 Math</p>

<p>SAT Subject Tests:
Korean with listening (planning to take, but she is fluent in korean)
Math II (also planning to take)</p>

<p>EC's:
-Volunteered at a children's center for 4 consecutive years (still volunteers there).
-Helps the homeless in downtown during the holiday breaks.
-Senior Rep for Key Club.
-Colorguard/Winterguard for 5years & captain 2010-2012 (7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th).
-Cheer (sophomore year because colorguard was not offered at her new school yet).
-Hiphop Club (sophomore year).
-LiNK Club (senior year).
-Mabuhay Club (freshman year).
-Choreographer, instructor, and President of her hiphop dance crew.</p>

<p>Other info:
-Took all honors classes freshman year, but mainly got C's and B's.
-Took 2 AP's (AP US History + AP English Lang.) + is currently taking AP Psych.</p>

<p>She is retaking a couple of classes to boost up her gpa. She got her progress report a few days ago, and right now she has (all academic classes) 4 A's and 1 solid B in chemistry, which is one of the classes she is retaking. She got a D in that class the first time she took it.</p>

<p>Oh, and she said she can get really strong letter recs from her english teacher, guard teacher, and chem teacher.</p>

<p>And she can write a really good essay.</p>

<p>Low chances, but she can still get in! Have her write some great essays and she should be fine! Good luck to her!</p>

<p>She is considering applying early decision, because JMU is her top college… But since her school runs in a trimester schedule, she isn’t sure if she should wait to let the 1st trimester of her senior year add to her gpa and apply regular decision, or to apply early decision to show JMU how much she wants to get in, despite her low gpa.</p>

<p>Any thoughts?</p>
