Applying to Groton and Middlesex

Let us know tomorrow, along with if he/she applied for FA. This should be interesting.

Y should it be interesting???

Is it that he doesn’t have a chance, or that he does???

I think it depends on if he needs FA or not.

He does,

but why should it be interesting???

First they decide whether to accept you or not (FA has nothing to do with this process) and then they decide if he gets FA or not.

I’m really wondering, whether you were trying to be rude in implying he has no chance, or that you think it is something else???

Uhh not necessarily. They like to protect their yield, if they don’t have money for you they will waitlist you a lot of times.

It depends on the applicant and how much money they actually make. Maybe they’re applying for FA for the heck of it

FA is definitely a factor in admission decisions. If an admissions officer sees one kid that has a 3.8 GPA and another with 4.0 GPA, but requesting full FA, then the officer will mostly likely pick 3.8. They may want/need the money, or may not want to have the hassle of dealing with the angry parents who cannot afford the BS their S/D got into.

would you chance him??

He does need FA

Ok he has a great chance middlesex.

Im getting the feeling you’re just saying that but I hope you’re right.

Anyone else??

Oh no! I wasn’t implying anything of the sort. I just think that this year, especially, FA will come into play even more. To my knowledge, neither Groton, nor Middlesex is need-blind. His stats are fine.

Objectively, I would see him as a maybe. Groton tends to look for higher SSAT scores and more ECs than are listed on here. Do you have his grades, the district he lives in, etc.?

Nashua NH, all A’s except 2 B’s. What about Middlesex

More on par with Middlesex, I would give him a good chance there. Nashua, NH is a good neighborhood, so his grades should be on par.

thnx, i’ll tell him that.

By any chance on the transcripts, does the school look at your finals, and midterms, or is it just grades??

The schools look at everything on the transcripts… grades, tests and even any standardized tests taken annually at school.
Don’t you think it’s a little too late to chance your friend? Just relax. Tomorrow will be here sooner than you think.

Thanks (10char)
