Again, unless she gets the SATs at or above 2200 her chance is very low.

About +78 percent of Yale students have better than 1400 on Math/Verbal before the writing section...and even more than that have more than 730-740 on Math/Verbal...which equates to a 1460/1480 before the writing. And they normally score about as well on the writing.

She has a decent shot, but the test scores are awfully low for an ivy. She might want to look into getting her SAT up to at least 2200, or taking the ACT instead, and the SAT II's are a bit on the low side as well. The grades and EC's seem strong enough, but Yale's admissions are a crapshoot for anyone, so she'll need to up those scores just to even the playing field.

False. We are not. I dont mean to be harsh, but everybody that applies to Ivies is over 2200 easily. And her essay needs to be amazing if her scores only improve to 2100. Tell her to consider taking the ACT also.

SAT's are obviously standardized, so if you can't do well on them, you most likely won't be accepted into the secondary round of admissions. 2040 is the lowest score I've personally seen on this forum for someone asking to go to Yale. The SAT II's are also obviously standardized, so the same thing goes. Also, if you check Yale's statistics for its freshman class, a staggering 97% were in the top 10% of their high school class. Lastly, if those are the only two AP's that she has done thus far (i'm assuming she's a rising senior) then that also is not very impressive. The extracurriculars are good though. I would say very high reach. Life sucks, doesn't it.

But who knows, she might get some URM, affirmative action BS.

AA will only go so far. And I say this because I'm hispanic myself. If those test scores go up, I'm sure she has a great shot. But being a URM can't be the focus of an application, it has to be the actual person. Good Luck to her! :)
