Safeties:
UMass Amherst
UVM
Ithaca
Clark University (brother goes there)

I would be very surprised if you didn’t get into all of these schools.

^Yeah, i’m a bit worried about my EC’s and GPA though

Ithaca, Clark and UMass are safeties, maybe a low match for UMass. UVM I’m not familiar with. D has stats slightly higher (2070 SAT with a 4.2 UW) and no hooks or varsity sports and was admitted EA to Ithaca. She applied late October for a December 1 deadline and had her acceptance back late November before the deadline even hit lol. She also applied UMass EA and will be applying to Clark RD. Since you like UVM, have you looked at St. Michaels as a safety? Good luck!

@NEPatsGirl what do you mean no hooks? also a 4.2 is significantly higher than a 3.4

@chubwagon She probably means the converted GPA. An unweighted 4.2 is probably on a 4.33 scale (school probably gives As and A+s). Your GPA Is probably on a 4.0 scale. The colleges will convert them to the same scale for comparison. So a 4.2 on a 4.0 scale is a 3.88. Still a very good GPA. That is the value you compare your 3.4. You both have great SATs. The really important part of your score is a great M+CR combined. Most schools will not look at writing. 1450 for a combined score is excellent!

And for chances, I think you get in all. 1450 is excellent so I think they will see a rising trend and forgive the sophomore year.

First, yes chubwagon, your SAT is fantastic! D’s M+CR is 1350 so like I said, similiar in the whole picture I think. And thank you gearmom, I’ve been trying to figure out this GPA thing and you are the first to explain it. The school does give out A+ so that makes sense now.

@chubwagon, no hooks implies nothing extra special like URM, first generation, sports recruit., fantastic ECs…D is straight vanilla: middle class, white girl from the northeast with a 4.0, like everyone else trying to get into the LACs nearby lol.
