trying to decide between lehigh, lafayette, and trinity for EDII, prefer lehigh though. does she have a shot? We need to figure it all out before the January 1 deadline so please give advice!

Well, you certainly didn't heap praise on your sister's stats. With what you have there, chances are very slim. IMHO.

Laxmom:

What are you talking about? I just listed the stats point for point, I didn't come here looking for praise.

Her guidance counselour recommended it and suggested she'd have a 50/50 shot through ED for Lehigh. Can you further explain what it takes to get into Lehigh or why "in your honest opinion" her chances are very slim? We'd like to know if she was guided wrongly. Thank you.

.."I didn't come here looking for praise."

Sorry, you aren't understanding what I meant or I worded it poorly. My apologies.
With what you wrote, it's hard to give a true assessment.

"no SAT II's" - Although not required, they may help get in since the SAT scores are average, but too late for EDII.

The counselor's advice of having a 50/50 shot is due in part to not applying for FinAid.

If she's really interested, be sure to visit. Lehigh is very high on demonstrated interest.

Try to get the SAT score up, if possible. The essay "Why Lehigh" will be important.

Thank you laxmom! My sister is a senior so she can't do the SAT I again though unfortunately. She submitted an EDII app to Lehigh today, she has a 92.8 weighted GPA and took the most rigorous courseload available at her school, so we're hoping her somewhat high verbal score and grades will pull through for an ED acceptance.

Her writing score is low, but apparently Lehigh does not consider this section. Can you or anyone else attest to that?

Lehigh is interested in students who are intereted in attending Lehigh. By applying early decision to Lehigh, you showed the admissions committee that you are interested as an applicant. You may get rewarded (I know some people with worse scores who got in ED) by being admitted. If you get deferred, send a letter to Lehigh ASAP after you get deferred restating your interest in Lehigh and make them understand through the letter why you and Lehigh are a good match. If you get WL, send the letter again. I have heard this REALLY helps and if you are on the border, this can push you in.

Lehigh has become a stepping stone for students. Students get in and apply for transfer the next year. They are trying to make sure this does not happen.

I have stats near ur sisters (3.45, 1990 SAT) and i was accepted ED1. I also didnt apply for FA. Ur sisters writing is low, and her GPa is mediocre, I agree that you have about a 50/50 with EDII. But most importantly u must express interest, this is very important to Lehigh. G/L to ur sister
