A- and you got waitlisted??? What were your SATs?? Jeez. This is depressing. Well now, what do you mean by "he can still go to good schools." I thought Nova was a "good" school! What types of schools in the NE/Mid-Atlantic area are you talking about?? Where else are you looking to attend?

I guess we should forget about Princeton then? LOL!!!!

my gpa: 3.58+ (where 3.5 is A-)
my rank: top 15%
my sats:
690/640/770

well out of the college threads you posted in, i think bentley would be his best shot

Myone: you clearly said it was on a 7.0 scale! You said,"we're on a 7.0 basis, so my son's 4.7GPA is in the B range." Reread your post! Ours is on a 4.0 scale, highest possible is a 5.0. So, I have a 4.0UW(straight A's), with a 4.6W, given the extra points for the APs taken. You obviously need to learn how it works before you start calling me names. I AM relaxed. I got into all my schools, including Villanova. I am sorry if you are misunderstanding your son's grading, but YOU said a 7.0 scale. If you are going to start namecalling, know your facts. Obviously, I am not the only one who disagrees with you!

That's it huh? Nothing against Bentley, I just thought maybe American (for a change of venue) or Lehigh. Ah well, thanks for all your info. and best of luck to you in this wacky college admissions world!

No sweetheart, you're not the only one who disagrees, you're just the nastiest. Good think 'Nova doesn't interview because I'm sure they'd re-think their offer. It's just your tone, honey. Just unpleasant. I hope my son ends up wherever you're not.

Myoneandonly: You can go to any of these schools' discussion boards and look at the threads that say "stats of those admitted" and it will show exactly what stats got admitted and which didn't. That might be a good place to start. But remember, chools are looking for not only high grades/scores but also some good communtiy service, leadership, EC's and such, so it can be a balance. Weak in one area, stronger in another.
Also, did you say what your son's class rank is? I think VN takes, on the average, top 10-15%.

K-K-K-Kati: Take a pill and chill. Be happy that you got into 'Nova and scale back the unpleasant demeanor.

Seems to be alot you don't understand. College should help with that.

bandnerd: son's school doesn't rank, unfortunately -- not quite sure why but I guess the kids were getting too competitive with one another.

Myoneandonly: I don't know why you are being so derogatory to Kati. You obviously can't deal with kids. You started the name calling on her and should apologize. If you are really a dad, you should know better. Also, on other threads you say his class rank is 30%....see your Lehigh and Wm and Mary posts. Which is it? No rank or 30%? If you are going to pick on kids, get your story straight. Sounds to me you are just jealous of Kati.

PS. Your post DID say it was on a 7.0 scale. The girl was right.

bandnerd, thanks, but I don't need you to defend me. He asked for help, and when I gave him my opinion, he got nasty. Myone, I am sorry if you didn't get the answers you wanted. You weren't happy with me, you weren't happy with the 3.13, obviously you were expecting something different. If he is your one and only, I can see where you would think he is the best there is. I come from a large family and believe me, I have worked my butt off because, unlike your son, my family is not so fortunate for me to be able to go without FA. I have worked HARD to maintain high grades so I can go to a good school. I don't fool myself. There are a LOT of kids out there with better scores and better grades than I have. There are kids in my FAMILY with better stats. I have never had delusions of grandeur. But I have had to work hard for what I have. For you to attack me personally was not called for. Your son would probably be embarrassed to see this discussion thread. Name calling is not allowed on this board. Please remember you are the adult.

i think villanova is a reach, and again it depends on what your intended major is,you cant touch the business school with those stats... i got waitlisted from VSB and if i told you all my stats, and the fact i have legacy youd cry and give up lol

gambit, do they say legacy gets you something?

Gambit I am curious to know what your stats are.. just tell us.. lol..

what other schools did you apply to?

I was accepted RD in Villanova School of Business so here's a reference if anybody needs for stats

SATs: Math: 800, Reading: 680, Writing: 670
GPA: 3.79 weighted (an A in AP class gives a 5.3), very competitive public H.S. (no rankings, but around top 20% in my grade)
ECs: Varsity Golf, FBLA (awards in regional competition, competed in state competitions), Job at a learning center, various community service, worked in my dad's office.
Recs: I wouldn't say too great, I had a rec from a business teacher I was close with as well as a math teacher. I'd have to say avereage to good recs at best
Essay: Average, was leaning on Nova as a semi-safety school.

For other schools with my stats: Accepted in Rutgers, BU school of management, Waitlisted: Lehigh, Emory, Rejected: Northwestern, Chicago, NYU Stern, UPenn

myoneandonly, you need to go to collegeboard.com or something and read the stats for the schools because you are not really taking a realistic approach toward the college process for you son and this could hurt him when he starts applying
