Chance my transferring;MIP and reprimand from my current university

I am applying for transferring. (Overall GPA 4.0 in U of I SAT 2110 TOEFL105 as an international student ) But I got a Minor in Possession citation, though it’s not a crime according to my school attorney. I paid the fine and dismiss the ticket. And hence I got a reprimand that will expire in one year from office of student.

The Dean’s report of Common apps asks questions that “Has the applicant ever been found responsible for a disciplinary violation at your school, whether related to academic misconduct or behavioral misconduct that resulted in the applicant’s probation, suspension, removal, dismissal, or expulsion from your institution?” and “To your knowledge, has the applicant ever been convicted of a misdemeanor, felony, or other crime?”.

Since it's neither a crime nor a probation, suspension, etc., I shall be fine with those two questions, right? Should I disclose this stuff to my potential colleges? Any advice is appreciated.

I don’t know anything about legal terms, but what I do know is that your answers to these questions need to be consistent with what your school marks on the College Official’s form.

IMO you should sit down with whoever fills out the form for your school and see how they are planning to respond to these questions. There are fine points to legal terminology, so I don’t see any problem with you asking for their interpretation and discussing your concerns.

Thank you entomom! The attorney of the student legal service office firmly confirmed that it was not a crime or arrest, but just like a penalty for failing to return the due book to library. So I can honestly say no if I am asked have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor, felony, or other crime. Anyway, I will make a appointment with the officer and discuss it.
