Hi, I recently got accepted into Baruch College for accounting. However, my grades have dropped quite drastically. This is mainly due to the fact I'm forced to take classes in my senior year that I don't even need to graduate and so I stopped trying as hard. I feel that I will most likely fail one of my chemistry courses, which does NOT give me college credit even though it's a college level course and isn't necessary for me to graduate, by the end of the year. I'm just wondering if my admission would get revoked if this happens.

*"Somewhere in all those college letters, after the 'congratulations’ part, is a sentence to the effect that admission is conditional upon the student completing high school with the same academic and personal achievement on which the offer is based.

“And they mean it. Each year, colleges rescind offers to students whose grades plummeted after they were admitted. Generally, one stray 'C’ won’t have serious repercussions. But make it a couple of D’s on a transcript that had been crammed with A’ s and B’s and there may be trouble.”*

I don’t know what grades you’ve been getting. If they’ve been mostly As and Bs, then this “F” that shows up on your transcript won’t look good, and Baruch may revoke your admission if this is the case.

The circumstance for your failing chemistry also won’t help your case, unfortunately. My best advice is to talk to your teacher or your school counselor and see what you can do to improve your grade. It’s good that you’ve identified why your grade slipped, and now it’s time to raise it as much as you can.

Definitely try to pass Chemistry. As for the grades, I don’t think CUNY schools will care much if your grades drop. If it gets to the point where you have to take chemistry during the summer, call CUNY or Baruch admissions and ask if that would be okay.
