also.. how is the social scence / financial aid ?

thanks!

Werent you just in the ND forums... positng the same exact thing.. lolz

I too love ND and USD.....

You should be good here.....ummm

yeahh lol thanks for ur help chillin =) im pretty nervous about the whole admissions thing. ive worked my butt off but still cant seem to get a good sat blah. are u planning on applying to sd? or are u already there?

That GPA and class ranking should get you in. You'll be fine man. Best of luck!

haha yes I am planning on applying to USD... I luv everything about it.......I still gotta work hard for another year or so since I am only a junior.......
Where else are you applying/thinkin gabout applying

yeahh chillin thats tight ur startin early and everything. wish id done the same. nail those sats man cos thats what i have most to worry about. im applying to usd , some uc's, notre dame (big reach) and some other smaller private schools and maybe unc @ chapel hill.

hey westcoast.. thanks for ur comments man i think ur a current student there or something i read on a different thread.. can u offer any insight about financial aid, how are they with that? and whats the social scene like down there?

I know that a lot of students here have some sort of financial aid. USD is pretty generous with that. The social scene is alright on campus, but a lot of people party off campus at the beach (upperclassmen houses), San Diego State, Tijuana, etc. School-wise though, the campus is awesome. It's seriously one of the best 2 or 3 campuses I've ever seen (and I've been to like 40 other schools....visiting other colleges/friends)

ya thanks westcoast. i was just talkin to some friends who went down there and they couldnt stop talkin about how pretty it is.
hmmm... i wanted to ask you if you think i would be ok for early action? because here and along with Notre Dame are my goals (nd is probably too big of a reach) so i would really like to apply early action here. what do you think? (ive been trying to find someway to ask an admissions counselor or osmething, but cant seem to be able to)

Lastly, you said uve been to about 40 campuses, off the top of ur head can u think of any that would match my stats (or perhaps some safeties) and are near the same level as usd campus-wise and academically??

thanks for all your help man, i really appreciate it!

Hey pre..... I think that we both like the same things in colleges...so I'll give you a few suggestions

1 Loyola Marymount University-- also beautiful in la.... jesuit
2.Pepperdine University- malibu.. right on the beach...need I say more... only prob with them is that they are really strict with relegion and such
3. Creighton -- I heard it a great school...... and if u dont get in to Nd... its a great place to transfer into ND from....

Good Luck with your apps and decisions

I'd have to say that in the academic world, USD definitely ranks above LMU and Creighton. You could probably put them under safety for you.

I would definitely recommend applying Early Action since you know that USD is one of your top choices. Regarding other schools that you might like....similar to USD -> private, great campus, strong academics. Pepperdine is another very good school you might look at (similar to USD, though less strict I've heard).

ya I meant those 2 as safeties.......Man.. I like to see the USD board active...

yeah haha thanks for all the help guys! and as for pepperdine... i know a lot of people that live in that area and they all talk about how most of the kids are somewhat stuck up / snobby. so i would definitely not fit in there. west coast are you inferring that usd is really strict? and if so, like about what (sorry if that is really ignorant)

Nope, I meant that Pepperdine is strict (from what I've heard). USD isn't that strict though (especially for a private/Catholic school)

My brother and I went up to visit his girlfriend who goes there........
strict is the exact opposite......everything seemed really chill..........IT was amazing........
moer info on pepp
