I agree with the above poster. These chance threads are hard (which didn’t stop me from making a hundred of them back in the day), because you never know what the admissions office is seeing or thinking, but I would say you are right in line with Vanderbilt’s average. I would say your GPA is your weakness, although still very solid. If it is a top school, and you took the most challenging classes possible, I would not worry about it too much. Will your counselor only send in your weighted GPA? Our school just sent in unweighted, so I’m not sure of your schools policy. I would only start worrying if your unweighted GPA is being seen and it is below 3.5 or something.

the school sends both unweighted and weighted but i dont see why a college would care about the unweighted grade.
also the schools a public school and it was ranked in the newsweek poll, so im not sure how reliable that is, but the school definitley has some prestige. and yea, i took challenging courses all 4 years, 4 APs this year and junior year, 1 in freshman and sophmore, but thats really all they offer the first two years

The GPA is just one aspect of your resume and your overall resume is very good. The GPA is looked at in relation to your school and not how it compares with other GPA’s from other schools. Vandy is an excellent school, have you visited? Best of Luck!

the school sends nothing with relation to GPA other than your weighted and unweighted GPA, i.e., the school profile reports no GPA statistic nor do they rank kids

The admissions office (and more speifically the representative for your geographic region) has information on your school and will use that to determine what your gpa means in your potential success at Vanderbilt. But again this is only one aspect of your resume.

Um, actually a lot of schools don’t send in both GPAs. My entire school district only sends the unweighted grades, such as other schools that don’t weight their grades.
