Chance of getting Accepted (out of state student)

I'm applying to UTA as an out of state student, and from what I've seen UTA weighs class rank heavily. My app for the most part is solid but not spectacular, except for my class rank. The high school that I attend is one of the top in the nation (top 10 according to Washington post).

SAT: 2070 (800m, 640cr, 630w), going to retake
Also took the Math II subject test, but my score was delayed because of another test I took where my listening device malfunctioned. Expecting at least a 700 though, probably around a 750.

GPA: 3.42 uw, 4.34 w

Class rank: 28th percent (88/314)

Extracurriculars: 4 years varsity tennis
4 years running cross country (3 varsity)
12 years of piano, treasurer of the state federation
Started a foundation with two friends where we teach autistic kids tennis, received sponsorship from Prince
Best Buddies treasurer
Assistant teacher at my church Sunday school
Two time regional finalist for science fair
Summer job as a waiter and sushi chef
Treasurer of the Chinese National Honor Society

My grades fell quite a bit during my junior year, where I overloaded on difficult classes. Took AP calc AB, AP stat, AP lang, APHUG (took online), APUSH, IB physics, IB chem, IB Chinese, and IB ToK, and I made 5 C's between the two semesters (18 total semester credits)
My senior year classes are: AP calc BC, AP lit, AP US gov, AP comp gov, AP macro, IB physics, IB Chinese HL, IB contemp history, IB philosophy, and IB ToK 2.
I think it might also hurt since I dropped the second year of IB chem, but I still have a pretty difficult class rigor imo.

The only classes I've taken that are not IB/AP/honors/pre IB are HOPE (which is mandatory) and drama (so I can apply to UCs).

Honest opinions would be greatly appreciated.

As an honest opinion I don’t think you’ll get in unless it’s some sort of miracle. On average UT automatically admits 82% of their students because of a Texas law that all in-state top 7% kids have automatic admission, leaving little wiggle room for Texas residents not under that criteria, much less out of state applicants. My best friend was one spot away from making the 7% cut and we are praying for them to cut him some slack because he’s smart but they value rank like you wouldn’t believe. He still hasn’t heard back months later, whereas my friends that were automatic heard back almost immediately, which tells me they basically only looked at their transcripts. I kid you not, my automatic admission friends could have turned in an essay of 120 lines inspired by them just slapping the keyboard a bunch of times. It is easier to get into the UT school of business than to get in to UT itself.

@Luciani2730‌ the business program at UT is the most competitive program that they have in terms of applicants.

@Lucian2730 I think you play too much league. McCombs is definitely the hardest to get accepted to.

? League? I meant there is only a potential 18% left in terms of space at UT after the automatic admissions and there are plenty of high class rank/high SAT out of state applicants. Their admissions are major-blind, yes? Among the pool that are admitted to UT and compete for McCombs, I doubt they individually have <18% chance.

how about liberal art? chance me please, ACT 35, SAT 2150, but my GPA is low only 3.4 uw, no ranking in private school! still not hear anything, in review? :((

@kitty1 your test scores are incredible IMHO and I would not worry about GPA as UT doesn’t look at it. They may try to ask the school for some sort of ranking, but given your stats it seems like your private school is very competitive and they then may base their decision off of your scores and essays. I myself am still in review and not nearly as good of an applicant honestly. I would hope that you would be accepted. My vote is so

How about mine? I applied to economics and unspecific business, i have a 3.6 UW and 2300 SAT, but my high school is super competitive and doesn’t reveal rankings I think

I would not worry about it with UW 3.6 GPA and SAT 2300 but the problem is no ranking same as mine!
