I have a very solid extracurricular background: Band First Chair flute for 4years, Varsity tennis for 2years, STUCO VP, Class officer, over 4years worth of community volunteer services, many medals and plaques from flute competitions like All-State Band, and many other activities..

I heard from someone that UT specifically look at ACT english and math scores, is that true?
also, do they look at high school GPA and class rank more than anything?

well, i live in Alabama but my dad works in Texas so somehow (idk how) i am considered Texas resident haha at least that’s what it said on the MyStatus page :P

It sounds like you’re being given residency status for tuition purposes (yippee!), but that doesn’t mean you’ll be given the benefit of the Texas auto admission rule, which applies only to applicants who attended Texas high schools.

However…a rank of 3% is awesome and will certainly stand out to the UT admission counselors because rank + test scores are the most important factors in making up your Academic Index. Congrats on your hard work! And strong ECs!

TXArtemis: thank you for your positive comment! I was kind of worried because my ACT score is not as high as I wished it to be… haha

do you know if i will be picked from in-state applicants pile or out-of-state? I know that it is much more difficult for an out of state student to get accepted.

Christine, pretty sure you’re in the OOS pile, but I’d call admissions to confirm and also confirm that they’re granting you in-state tuition.

Frever, hehe, not sure what you mean…perhaps that I beat you to the punch this time?! I have been around here a long time. But I’m always happy to check in and see you and other current students helping prospies. Hope you had/are still having a great holiday! If you’re in Austin today, the weather is drop dead gorgeous. Get out there!
