i have an 1900 on my SAT I. 740 on Literature SAT II. a 4.2 gpa and i take mainly all ap courses. i am president of the national honors society, participate in campus ministry at school, tutor at a tutoring club at an elementary school, and work 3 days a week at a daycare.i am filipino ( dont know if this makes any difference). interested in going pre-med..applied bio. i know that its a big reach but do u think i have a shot at maybe getting admitted?

please can anyone help?

hmmnn… Middle Reach which means that you’ll probably get denied, although you’ll never really know until you apply. I’m Filipino too (born here, but went to school in the Philippines, then went back in the US for college), and it doesn’t make a difference cause (1) Filipinos = pretty much Asian, therefore, no URM status and (2) UCLA doesn’t take into account race anyway or affirmative action (at least that’s what they say, as mandated by the State).

EDIT: make sure you have AWESOME essays/personal statements to offset the low SAT score. Your ECs are great, but just “okay” for the top schools, meaning they’ll never really make or break your app.

I think you have a pretty good shot, don’t doubt yourself.

Thank you so much for your help guys! I think I had really good essays so I’m hoping that helps :)
