3.77 gpa out of 4.5

whats my chance

two questions: public high school? are you a MI resident?
I’d say if you’re from a public hs and even if you live in state, you may get in, but you’re not a shoe-in. I know someone who did get into Michigan with the same stats as yours.

no. i’m from out of state. texas

3.7 out of 4.5? Never heard of a 4.5 scale, but reach.

so i actually have a chance?

based on my stats, which college should i apply to: engineering or lsa

i plan to go to med. school, so does it really matter which college i go to? like i mean can i still go to like ross business and still go to med. school or will i only have to go to like business school?

btw: sorry i didn’t answer your first question. i go to a public hs.

our school goes on a 5.0 scale but they cut our gpa off at 4.5. so it’s basically the same as out of 5.0

Reach (10char)

Yeah, you have a chance but its really low. I think you can go to any school, but you have to go on a “pre-med track”. Ross = business school = almost impossible to get in with your stats.

so should i apply lsa or CoE?

which one do i have a better chance in?

which one of Michigan’s school is easiest to get in

I’d apply to the school that has your intended major in lol. But you have a better chance at LSA with your stats.

yosup, thanks a lot man, you’ve been a real pal

yeah, i would agree that you MAY get in, it’s not a seal deal since you’re from out of state.

one more thing that i forgot to ask: does Michigan require SAT subject tests? if so, how many and are there any preferences as to which ones they want?

^ Nope, they don’t require em.

do i have a better chance of getting in the earlier i apply?

Yes. Admissions come in waves.

Yeah, but as long as its before November 1st, its pretty much all the same.

so based on my stats, if i apply before Nov. 1st, do i have a better chance of getting in?

and one more question:

does Michigan really look in to see if i’m in all the clubs that i say i am?

for example:

if i’m not in NHS (National Honor Society) but on my application i write that i am, will Michigan actually contact my school to see if i’m really in NHS or not?

1st of all, apply before Nov 1st. Its simply better.

2nd if you get caught for cheating on the application, Michigan may notify your high school and in turn, all the colleges you have applied to. Also, if they find out later that you lied (like after you get in and start classes) they reserve the right to dismiss you from the college. However, I don’t think Michigan contacts your highschool for club verification unless they are informed from a 3rd party (ie a friend) that you lied on your app or if they suspect you cheating for some reason [like you were in NHS with a 2.0 etc]

Either way, being in NHS won’t help your chances…

dude, thats 3.35 out of 4.0 gpa, thats not gonna cut it for umich out of state
