Hi I am a senior and I am going to be applying to colleges this fall with an intended major in Computer Science . But I have one problem; SAT Math Score: 600 Everyone keeps telling me that I won't be accepted to any college for Computer Science/Engineering because it is so low. I am taking AP Calculus right know and it is easy, but for some reason SAT Math is not my thing. I plan on applying to UMD, UMBC, Loyola(Maryland), Salisbury, McDaniels College... Do I have any chance of being accepted as a Computer Science major?

you always have a chance, its just hard to tell you if you don’t give any other info (other SAT scores, GPA, course rigor)

I have taken 5 AP Classes and I am taking 4 this years, for a total of 9

AP Gov.
AP Physics B
AP Calculus BC
AP Psychology
AP World History
AP Human Geography
AP Biology
AP Literature
AP Environmental Science.

SAT: 560 CR Math: 600 Writing 560

There are lots of schools where, once you’re accepted into the school, you can choose any major you want. In fact, that may be the norm.

So will I be accepted into UMBC or Loyola, McDaniels, Salisbury?

No one knows where you will be accepted. Maybe your SAT is low simply because your schools rigor is weak. I am sure you can make it. Your math SAT is most likely low because the SAT I is mostly early arithmetic and basic algebra, things that you surpassed a long ago since your in Calc. Why don’t you check some Class of 2016 and 2017 results threads and see what others profiles are like who got accepted.

What scores have you been getting on the AP tests?

What is your GPA and GPA trends?

Mg GPA is 3.76
