I want to know what people think of my chances of getting into NYU, I go to a small catholic high school, im rank 11 out of 96. I have a 3.6 unweighted gpa with all honors and aps. On my act i got a 26 (sats are low). EC wise i do a ton of community service. I received the Fredrick Douglas award for humanitarians, presidential award for service (completed over 400 hours in two years). President of two community service clubs. Youth and government for three years (one year youth and law). Recent summer i went on a mission trip to build a school in Malawi (this year im in charge of planning another trek to nepal). I run a support blog for eating disorders (my college essay is on why i run a support blog- suffered from bullemia/anorexia since freshmen year, made my grades suffer in comparison to what they are now). I also am the student ambassador (i represent the students in connecticut of a non profit called buildon).
My grades and test scores arent the highest but do you think i stand a chance, esp considering my EC?

NYU: reach
that ACT is way too low for NYU. It would take a near perfect GPA to make up for it

What school at NYU are you applying to?

They recalculate your GPA, so if you took a lot of challenging courses, it may higher a bit. Yeah, that ACT score is low, but I think if you have a really strong essay and supplements that show dedication, you can have a good chance. Also, if you have visited the school and have your name down in admssions, it will help.

Try to e-mail the representative that’s reading your essay and ask questions about the school so your name sticks. Feel free to throw in a sentence that shows your dedication and love to the school-it will personalize you with the reader more.

Hope that helps Good luck! I’m applying as well

Which school within NYU are you applying to? Answer determines a great deal in admissions rate and how you position yourself.
