Chance of Getting into Southern Schools

I am a Senior girl at a top private high school in the midwest. I have a list of schools to apply to but I would like some advice on my chances of getting in.
My list includes Furman, Southern Methodist University, College of William and Mary, UNC, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and the Blount Undergraduate Initiative at the University of Alabama. Also, I won't quailfy for need based financial aid, how much merit based aid do you think I could receive at these schools?

Here are my stats:
ACT:32
GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.30 weighted
Class rank: 8 out of 290
AP Classes: 6
Advanced: 13 (seen as very rigorous courseload)

I nanny 10 hours a week and more during the summer
I have over 300 hours of community service throughout high school

THANKS!!

It’s been more than a day and I haven’t got any responses. Is that normal? It is my first time starting a thread!! Please respond with your opinions!!

I think you have a great chance at all the schools you mentioned.

Furman: In
Southern Methodist: In
William and Mary: OOS — you’re a Match-Low Reach (I’m a fellow applicant; I wish I had your GPA, haha)
UNC: Low-Reasonable Reach (it’s one of the most selective schools in the country)
Wake Forest: Match
Vanderbilt: Low Reach
Blount Initiative at Alabama: In

This is an excellent list!! I’d say you get into all of your schools, except UNC, which I can’t guarantee (40-50%)

Your GPA/School is outstanding, boards are great, and EC’s/comm service is knock-out

I say you get merit aid everywhere except Wake (doesn’t offer any merit aid), W & M, and UNC… Vandy has one of the best financial aid policies in the country

PLEASE Chance me back!! Good luck!

P.S. it’s very often that you won’t get a post for a while… it’s a crapshoot; you either get 30 or 2, lol

I think you have a great chance at all your schools, including Vandy which is one your top ranked schools. :)

**Vandy **- I don’t think you’ll get much (if anything) from Vandy. My nephew is a freshmen there now. He had an ACT 33, 4.8 GPA and was from an area that they don’t a lot of apps, and he got NOTHING. :frowning: Are you a URM? If so, you might get something. Vandy does like to increase its diversity thru scholarships. :)

But, Vandy is a great school! But, if you need merit money to got there, then… :(

UNC-CH - great school. Are you applying to any of their competitive scholarships? I don’t think that they have any OOS merits that you would assuredly get.

**Alabama **- With your stats, if you apply for scholarships by Dec 1, you’ll definitely get the Presidential Scholarship  Full OOS Tuition (worth about $80,000) [Out-of-State Scholarships - Undergraduate Scholarships - The University of Alabama](http://scholarships.ua.edu/types/out_of_state.html)

Are you applying for Fellows or CBHP at Alabama? Your stats are good for those competitive programs, and those programs are better than BUI. Have you done the scholarship app for Alabama? (it’s a separate app from the admissions app.) Depending on your major, you could get more scholarship money. :)

**SMU **- You’ll be accepted. Do they have any merits that you’re assured to get? Have you applied for any of their competitive scholarships?
