UM is my dream college. I want to double major in Music Therapy and Marine Biology while enrolled in the Pre-Med program. I'm going to be a junior this year, so I have a while before applying to college. I'm going to the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Math for junior and senior year.

SAT: CR-630, Math-650, Writing-700

ACT: 27

4.0 Scale GPA: 4.0 SC GPA Scale: 5.135

For freshman and sophomore year, I had all 100's except one 99 and 97.

My class rank was either 1 or 2 of about 250. Governor's School doesn't rank because everyone there is super-smart, so I don't know if that would affect my chances.

I have been a Girl Scout for 8 years. I have also been in Interact (a Rotary community service club) for 2 years.

How are my chances of acceptance looking as of now? What can I do in the next two years to increase my chances?

For right now, I think you’re doing really well EXCEPT the extra curriculars. Luckily though you still have a few years left, and so if you could get some medical/marine biology (maybe volunteer at an aquarium, or something like that). Just do anything to show them you are truly passionate. Actions speak louder than words! Good luck :)

I would suggest getting the SAT scores up. Your 700 on writing is great but Miami doesn’t count writing. Miami will only see 1280.

Need more ECs. Don’t need to do too much, but I would say join one or two clubs and try a sport.

GPA is great. Maintain it.

I would say match as of now. Get scores up and get more ECs if you want merit aid.

This would be a great school for you. Your stats are too superior! You will definitely get in! :)

Thanks. I will be joining some clubs at Govie this year.

Academics are good. Try and get your SAT out of 1600 up and take some AP courses for rigor. Your ECs are mainly what need work.
