I want to go to University of the Pacific for pharmacy school. Im hispanic but look white. Not very good at talking skills but i AM working on it. I'm in my summer of junior year, will be senior after this summer. I have a good gpa, 3.5+ (not really sure right now), only took SAT once last year and got 1480.. 570 math, 440 critical reading, 470 writing and 7 on the essay. I haven't taken the ACT yet and I plan on taking that and SAT again ASAP when I get back to school. I take challenging classes. Next year I'm taking Calculus Ap, psychology Ap, normal english cp, yearbook, ceramics, and normal gov/Econ cp. I havent played any sports in highschool, plan on playing tennis senior year. And Im trying to get a first job as well. I took my first Ap test in us history last year and Im guessing I got a 2 because Im not a history type of guy. I joined a few clubs sophomore yer and junior year, but only attended like 2 meetings then quit.

I'd also like to know if I could get into UOP as an undecided major and not mention pharmacy, then once im in, join the pharmacy program?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there jack, as an admitted student to the Univ. of the Pacific,I can tell you that ANY HEALTH BASED MAJORS are only available to first year acceptance due to the fact that the school goes on a specified accelerated program. I am sorry to say but trying to wiggle your way into Pacific will not work for you. Also your SAT scores are really low, the average admitted) HEALTH student (counting only math and reading is about 1600’s-1800’s, so their 2 scores outweigh your entire score, you will need to work on that. Also on a side note your gpa is really below par , you are 3 Standard deviations away from the average.sorry to say and even if you “magically” got a 4.5 gpa on your senior year your weighted/unweighted gpa is already to low and your academic standards aren’t up to Univ of the Pacific’s rigorous standards sorry to say.

Ok. Whiteforce, Can you explain how 2 SAT scores can magically add up to somewhere between “1600-1800?” I had no idea you could get extra credit, so if you could enlighten me, that would be absolutely wonderful.
At the OP, As your scores and stats stand, it’d definitely be hard for you to get in. However, if you have any special circumstances (financial problems, have to support family, had a family death, or something) that has somehow affected you, then you could get in. I hate to sound racist, but Hispanics (of lower socioeconomic background) usually have a lot better chance, especially with stats like yours. Again, as it is, your chances are slim (especially for pharmacy school!), but not impossible if you have GREAT teacher recommendations and also strong essays.
