Im entering my senior year in hs and im getting scared becuase my gpa has been at the lower 3.0 range and im taking 3 ib classes this year (took 1 last year) to boost it up and to show colleges that i work hard. i havent taken my SAT's because of random problems and things that have come up but i am planning on taken them in september or october. i am planning on sending USC my sat scores and transcipt at around novemberish

GPA: 3.2 UW, 3.4 W

I want to become a plastic Surgeon when i grow up, and people have told me that usc is a great place to achieve that becuase its known for its teaching of health and medicine and also usc is in southern california where plastic surgery is quite popular.

i am of persian decent. i was born here in california but my mom is iranian and my dad is afghan. i am bilengual in english and farsi, so that hopefully will help since i heard usc is into miniorities and such.

This senior year, i am really trying to achieve above a 3.5 gpa unwieghted, becuase i know that will help my chances a lot becuase colleges like to see there students doin strong in there last year...

Admission stats for 2007:

average unweighted GPA was 3.8
middle 50% SAT score 1950-2220
admittance rate 25%

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergr...ile_2007v2.pdf

However, in 2008, the admittance rate went down to 21%.
According to an admissions article in USC News of March 2008 here are some more numbers:

Applicants for fall 2008........35,809
Desired class size................ 2,600
Mean composite SAT score of admitted students......2108

The PDF file on enrolled freshmen has not yet been posted on the website for fall 2008.

ahh thanks alot.. any other opinions?

bump bump bump

3.2's going to hurt you a lot, but USC likes varsity athletes. It's a definite reach at this point but your best chance right now would be to get your SAT I up in the 2100-2200 range. That and a good personal statement and teacher recommendation.

alright, and lets say i do very well my senior year.. will usc take that into consideration?

They may take your senior scores into consideration, but I'm not completely sure.

Have you studied for the SAT yet? You need quite a high score to become a competitive applicant.

I hope you do well.

Good luck!

yeah i have studied a little with some friends who are taking it.. i will start cranking a lot more once i get my schedule straight

Have you taken any practice tests yet? Any idea what your score range is? You will definitely need a high score (think 2200) to make up for the low GPA.

i have not taken any practices... people tell me tho that i cud score like.. a 1850 or around there... soo yeah ive got usc alumnis writing me letters and such and im hoping that me being ethnic and such will help me
