Chance of Getting President's Scholarship at University of Utah?

Okay. First of all, here are my "stats:"

High School GPA: 3.7
College GPA: 3.5
ACT Composite: 31
English: 34
Reading: 34
Math: 29
Science: 27
Writing: 8
Combined English/Writing: 31

My GPA is lower than I would like it to be, but here's the thing. I'm an early college student, so I started college during my junior year of high school (I'll be graduating with my AS in General Studies from Weber State University. Two years of college paid for!). I was still taking high school classes with college classes during that year, and that was just terrible, which is why my GPA went from a 3.9 to a 3.7.

I applied for the University of Utah on October 2nd (I applied for the honors program), and I checked the application status today online and it said, "Department action will be published on January 15, 2014." So the thing is, I know I got in for sure, because my boyfriend got in with a 24 ACT and 3.6 GPA. My question is... what are my chances of getting that President's/Honors at Entrance scholarship? It's a full tuition scholarship PLUS mandatory fees and a cash award. Here is the link:

It says it's based on academic merit. I think I have a pretty solid ACT score and GPA, and I applied wayyy before any of the deadlines. I've also already completed two years of college, and I only plan to go to the U for two years to get my bachelor's in psychology. And it seems to me that they've already made a decision. So what are my chances of getting that scholarship or any other good ones for that matter?? I'm also Hispanic and the first in my family to go to college, if that makes any difference. Help!

Hi, I might not be answering your questions, but…

First of all I wanted to understand why you think:
“Application Status: Department action will be published on January 15, 2014” means that you are already accepted?

My son has following stats: 2300 SAT and 4.4 W GPA / 4.0 UW GPA, and Hispanic and is hoping for the Presidential Scholarship too. So there is competition…

So today is 1/15/2014 and Utah was supposed to start giving out acceptances today to those who had all their materials in by 12/1/13. People in the admissions department have told me previously that I had all my materials in by the deadline, but when I look online it still says my application status is “in process”. Has anyone heard a definite yes/no answer yet?

My son’s status shows : “Admitted”

My S also got admitted. Since we are from California, we may get WUE and pay 150% of resident fee. Would it be better not to take it and become a resident a year later?

Son got the Presidential Scholarship - Full Tuition, Fees, Housing plus $750 stipend!

Congrats!!! Wow that’s awesome!!! My daughter received a one time freshman academic award of 10K. I also was wondering if we should just plan on her becoming a resident after one year? We live in Nevada and I did put her name in the hat for the WUE program. So once you do that can you back out of it I wonder? Anyone with any insights into that program out there? Thanks!

Yes it is awesome…
