Chance of me getting accepted into Georgetown?

Hi all! So I am currently a junior in a private Catholic high school in Socal. I am becoming more and more interested in Georgetown and was wondering if any one could fill me in on my chances of getting accepted. My passion is Chinese. I have been studying the language since freshman year and have since then taken every opportunity to immerse myself in the language. Upon graduation, I will be a 4 year Chinese student at my high school (consecutive As), Chinese 1-3 at community college, and I am currently applying for a six-week immersion program in China where I will stay with a host family and attend classes in China. I know that it may be difficult to chance my acceptance into Georgetown due to my being a junior, (also, I have not taken the SAT yet which is a big part of the application process) but please take a look at everything else. Almost forgot too: I am a white male! Here are my stats:

-Weighted GPA: 4.57
-Unweighted GPA: 3.81

-Language: Currently a third year Chinese student; planning on entering Chinese 4 IB next year.

-College level Chinese classes: Chinese 1-3 taken at community college.

-Applying for six-week government sponsored immersion program in China over the summer.
- I plan on taking the AP Chinese test

-Other ECs: Principle bassist in Orchestra; two years of soccer, two years wrestling; currently involved in multiple clubs including the Chinese club, Saferides club, Smile train club, another club involved in cooking meals for hospitalized children, and others;

I know that these stats are currently insufficient to predict the likelihood of my acceptance into Georgetown, but could somebody please let me know if I am on the right tract? Thank you so much!

哦!你也学中文!我的母语是英语,我希望我们都有很多的成功。

I think you should highlight the Chinese on your application, it’s very clear you are passionate about it and it’s not some overly stereotypical cookie-cutter EC you’re doing to get into a top school. Are you competing at city, state, or national levels for bass? Being first chair in your school orchestra doesn’t say very much about your abilities.

At this point, there’s little we can say without class rank and SAT scores. You should ideally be in the top 3% (depending on your school, if it even ranks) and be scoring 2100+, ideally 2200+ for Georgetown.

Chance me back?

Bump please

Your best source of information is the Common Data Set for Georgetown. Here’s the latest. Look at Section C to see how you compare academically to admitted students:

https://gushare.georgetown.edu/PlanningAndInstitutionalResearch/Public%20-%20Website/CDS_2011-2012.pdf?uniq=-wv5gve

What isn’t obvious from the data set is that if you are interested in political science and international relations, it’s probably somewhat more difficult to get in because so many students with those interests apply to Georgetown. The second point is that attending a Catholic high school might provide a boost to you or act as a hook - it would be worth asking explicitly. Finally, based on the info in Section B, it looks like the school has a slight gender imbalance (more women than men) which leads me to suspect that the applicant pool is also not 50/50. Since schools try hard to get that 50/50 balance, it is probably slightly less competitive for men to gain admission - which could work for or against you depending on your gender. Based on all of this, your guess at your chances is as good as anyone else’s on CC.
