Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read my life story below. I know stanford is extremely difficult to get into if I'm applying to computer science since the applicant pool is really competitive for that major, but I'm giving it a shot.

Academics
-I have taken the most challenging course load at my high school. That is 7 honors and 4 ap's counting from freshman to junior year. This year I am taking 5 ap's (including physics C and calculus BC).
- My unweighted gpa is 3.8, weighted is 4.45.
- I am number 17 out of my class of 320
- I've received AP scholar and National Merit Commendation (213 on my PSAT)
- I got a 2250 on my SAT's (790 math, 780 writing, 680 reading)
- For my SAT II's, I got a 780 in Math II, 710 in Biology, and 720 in US History
- My AP scores suck: 4 in AP US, 4 in AP Biology, 3 in AP World History, 3 in AP English Language
- I took a really difficult Computer Science 31 course at UCLA my sophomore year and got an A-

Extracurriculars
- I've played saxophone in a prestigious, audition only music school for 6 years. I've played in their concert band, wind ensemble, and jazz bands.
- I started a band with my cousin and friends and we play at parties in san diego and just in front of my cousin's fraternity. We have composed and recorded music together.
- I got a 1000 dollar scholarship from my school for my leadership in the music programs at my school (I'm part of my school's jazz band and marching band)
- I am an eagle scout and was patrol leader in my troop
- I joined our school's robotics team in 11th grade, and we work like 40 hours a week during the building season. I am now lead of the programming team this year.
- I've been making website since 9th grade and have accumulated a good amount of money from making my website search engine optimized and putting Google ads on it
- I worked at UCLA in my junior year summer with the professor of the computer science course I took sophomore year. I created an Android navigation application that routes the user in a different way than google maps and other programs similar to that.
- Community Service (totaling 250+ hours) I have tutored underprivileged kids, worked at a soup kitchen, and as part of the Armenian Missionary Association of America, I went to Armenia to help with orphanages, schools and camps for two summers. I also rebuilt an elementary school's playground as my Eagle Project (150+ hours). For my senior year community service project, I am going to mentor, tutor, and teach children at my local underprivileged elementary school (100+ hours).

Recommendations
- My teachers will give me pretty good recommendations (not super stellar though)
- My counselor will give me a good recommendation as well
- My research mentor and professor gave me an extremely good recommendation

THANKS for reading all that. Just let me know what you think my chances are. My sister just graduated stanford by the way, so that means I now have legacy right?

I think Stanford is a low reach for you. Your stats are great and your extracurriculars are strong too. If you can make your essays awesome, I’d say you have a great shot!

I haven’t taken the ACT, I’m only sending them my SAT score.

By the way, I forgot to add, I’ve done cross country and track since 9th grade, but my team is amazing (#3 in the state), so I’m only on junior varsity. And my essays to stanford were pretty good, but not AMAZING!

You definitely have a shot at Stanford. However, just make sure that you made a really solid, concise essay that will appeal to the readers. The SAT II’s might be a little on the low side, since most applicants get above 750s on them. You have a pretty good SAT Score and your GPA is decent. I would give you a 50% chance for it. Good luck and thank you chancing :)

Your SAT/GPA will put you in a good position to be considered for admission. Your EC’s will help a ton, as they show your depth of interest and talent for your intended field. You have a fair shot, especially if you’re not from the West Coast. If your essays and recommendations are good and your interview goes well, you should consider yourself a strong candidate. You’re not in beyond all reasonable doubt (Stanford is so competitive!), but don’t be surprised if you are accepted.

Wow, your stats are impressive! Sure stanford is competitive but you look great for it. You have such diverse ec’s that show you are more than student, but someone who would contribute to the community at stanford. Im rooting for you! Thanks for your chance btw:))

Stanford obviously is really hard to get into but if anyone has a shot at it, I think you do. Your SAT score is incredible, your GPA is great, you are loaded with EC’s. I think you have a great chance!

It’s a high reach. Your rank and SATs are both low for an unhooked candidate. No exceptional EC. And you’re from CA where they have many, many highly qualified and connected applicants. You’re a strong student who will get into many good schools, but at S I’d say very slim chance.

You’ve got a shot. It will probably come down to your essay & recommendations though, so when you say “not AWESOME”, hopefully your being modest. If not, your sure to get into berkeley, UCLA, etc. which have GREAT programs as well.

Thanks for all your chances, but ya’ll right about Cali people. Its too competitive to get into Stanford, especially when your from the West Coast. I just got my rejection email today I’m going to go for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Duke, Georgetown, and Columbia. Do you think my chances are better at those schools?
