Chance on IVY League, Stanford, UC's

Do I have a chance in the IVY Leagues, Stanford, UCBerkeley, and UCLA ?

Objective:

SAT I: 2200+ (700+ CR, 750+ Math, 700+ Writing) (I have yet to receive my scores from last October's SAT's)

SAT II: World History: 650 (sadly)

Planning on taking: Math Level II, Biology, Chemistry

Unweighted GPA: 3.8 (Expected GPA: 3.9)

Rank: 8/604

AP: World History (5), U.S. History (TBD), Calculus AB (TBD), Calculus BC (TBD) Biology (TBD), U.S. Government (TBD), Macroeconomics (TBD), Junior English (TBD), Senior English (TBD) - I expect 5's on all of them.

Course Load: Most rigorous available, might not look that impressive to those outside my school, but those are about 80% of the AP's available.

Awards and Notable Experiences: Expecting National Merit Scholar, Siemens Semifinalist (Junior Year) - Expecting Regional Finalist (at least) in Senior year, Southern California Delegate for the annual American Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) meeting (Expecting 2 years). Published a paper (second name) in a well established journal.

Subjective:
* Extracurriculars: Future Buisness Leaders of America (Historian, President), NHS (President), Junior Class Council, Expecting Senior Class Council, 4 year member - Southern California Junior Academy of Science
I have plenty more, but these are the more significant EC's.
* Job/Work Experience: A competitive internship program - 2 years. (People from Europe also applied), Researched in California Polytechnic University of Pomona for 2 years, Beckmen Research Institute at the City of Hope for 2 years.
* Volunteer/Community service: Local Hospital and Regional events

Other

State: CA

School Type: A big public POOR school that admits (1/700) to an IVY league school every 5-6 years. (80+% students have subsidized lunch)

Ethnicity: Asian

Gender: M

Income Bracket: Low.

Hooks: Not affluent, strong passion for science and research.

Yes, I stole the template from the results thread.

Thanks in advance.

You look strong for the UCs, for Stanford and the ivies you’re in an incredibly competitive pool so it will come down to factors like how big the plus above your 700 scores are and your having stand out recs and essays. And from a weak school, most ivies would be looking for you to be top 2. You might look at some privates just below ivy level if you don’t want the UCs.

Um…

Taking my formatting is perfectly acceptable, considering that it’s just the template from the results thread. Taking my exact wording in certain personal notes, plus asking for a chance in my thread (without doing the same for me)… Not so much.

Very good chances. GPA could be better, but fine the way it is. Great essays are essential.
Chance me plz: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/798570-token-black-kid-its-racist-if-you-dont-chance-me.html

which ivies? they’re all different…

You need SAT II’s. And i would be cautious predicting your SAT’s like that. And did you get Siemens?? becuz the results for this year are already out (friday)…

SORRY! I didn’t know how else to do it.

Yes, I am a semi-finalist in this year’s Seimens competition. Also, I have taken prep SAT courses and my average score was in the 2100+ range.

To hmom5: Do you mean top 2% or ranked one or two? Also, what other schools would you suggest that offers a strong science program?

You got a 5 on the AP World History yet a 650 on the SAT II test? Wow, that’s strange. But yeah, you definitely need to take a few more SAT II tests. You’re also an ORM, which makes it that much tougher and you only took 1 AP test. Your ECs are pretty good though. It’s hard to tell your chances without knowing your actual SAT I score or the scores of any potential SAT II tests.

@187, I am still a junior and my school only permits one AP in sophomore year. Also, with the subject test, I had some problems (family) the days prior to the testing day and I do plan on taking more SAT II tests.

I just received my SAT scores. 710 CR 800M 710W 2220 Total
