Chance on John Hopkins ED

I have been obsessed with John Hopkins University this week! Right now I'm planning to apply ED to JHU for fall 2011. I'm a hardworking and consistent student but my SAT's don't reflect that >.< I have been thinking about taking a practice ACT to see if that fitted me more, but I've been really busy in my science projects/competition and track obligations that rob away much of my time. Until March arrives and the academic competition season is done will much time be devoted to improving my scores.

Also, I a really poor student but i live relatively well with all my basic amenities. My parents own a small herb shop and rake in about 25000 a year (im surprised im not bancrupt). But in regards to that, if i apply for financial aid or grants from JHU or any other private institutions, will i be entitled to almost ALL of my tuition and boards/dorms fee?

Pretty much all my stats:
9-12 UW GPA: 4.0
9-12 W GPA: 4.68
10-12 W: 4.86
SAT- 1830 (hopefully when i start focusing it in march it will raise to 2150+ by june or worse case by october)
SAT II's: I am planning to get 700+ on Bio, Physics, and Math II this may. Gonna retake any bad ones this fall along with Chemistry
AP Test taken so far: World History (4), Chemistry (4)
AP Test this may: Physics, Biology, Calc B/C, US History (expected to get 4+)

Class Rank: Top 1%(3-6/ 664)

Junior Year Schedule: AP Calc B/C, AP Physics, AP Bio, AP US, Spanish 3, Eng Honors
Last Semester: 5.0 with all a's

Senior Year: AP Stats, AP Environmental, AP Lit, AP Spanish, AP GOV/ECONOMICS

Awards:
-American Chemistry Society Chemistry Student of the Year (school)
-Medallion recipient for top student in physical science (school)
-submitted a ocean research proposal for QuikScience(quiksilver sponsored) Challenge. our team is planning to get honorable mentions at least.
-planning to write an abstract and getting it published this may (its about white sea bass population with data supplemented from our school's closed-recirculating system that currently holds 25 of them. We were sponsored by Seaworld)

Open to any suggestions that you can provide. If you would like to chance other schools that I'm interested in for Regular Decision feel free to help me out as well!

Cornell
UCLA
Berkeley
UCSD
UCI
USC

will CHANCE back, I promise!

With the exception of Cornell, you’re in at all these schools.

ok, hmmm what else should i work on besides my sat and upcoming tests this may/june?

SAT score hurts you chances, by a lot. If your GPA is great, like yours, but your SAT is low, then that raises a flag to adcoms. It says your school doesnt prepare kids for college well, or you didnt prepare for it. If you get it up to a 2000+ then you have a good chance for all those schools.

Chance me back please

Oh, what about financial aid? Do you think that if i got accepted that at least 90% of the tuition will be paid for me? I’m really poor.

can anyone help me chance back please?

Well my first suggestion is that you not apply ED to a school that you’ve liked “for the past week.”

Second, all Ivy admissions are a crapshoot, so you can never be sure. However, I believe that you have as good a chance as many of the Ivy applicants. So, just get that SAT up, then keep doin’ what you’re doin’.

EDIT: What grade are you in…? Soph? Junior?

Your ECs are weak. You have a chance at JHU if you raise your SATs to 2100 or higher.

if i apply ed does it allow me to have a slight advantage if i applied rd instead?

That’s not why you apply early to a school…You apply early because you can’t wait to get there, and can’t wait to apply. You know for sure that that’s the BEST school for you.

Can’t decide that in a week…
