What do you think the chances are?
Thnx :)))

Not good at all.

SSobick it's clear this guy is talented in math beyond what an 800 on the SAT math would show. UF will know this. The AIME test is quite difficult to qualify for. I won several trophies at state-level mu alpha theta competitions and failed to qualify for the AIME the one time I took the AMC.

Regardless the applicant needs to get the verbal score up. Perhaps take a prep course.

Absolutely false; I am convinced he has a good chance of getting in. This guy is one of the ones that can get in with below average GPA/SAT because he has proven abilities in one area. He wasn't the treasurer of some bs organizations like NHS or FBLA, he has actual merit EC's which are quite rare. UF doesn't want to keep admitting the plethora of all around above average kids with no exceptional abilities that apply each fall, they want people with far above average abilities in key areas.

hmm,i see. thanks SSobick and gthopeful.
i guess i need to work more on critical reading section,,,hopefully i can get above 600. (yes i took the prep course ..)
SATs next weekend !!

Give this poor guy a break!! He came from Korea in 9th grade. English is obviously not his first language. He is brilliant in math and UF will understand why the verbal isn't there yet. I think he has a great chance!!

paulmjk2, what are some of the biggest reasons why you are interested in attending UF?

love the weather down there + one of the top public school with relatively low price (financial aid is big for me). Also, i have some friends going UF :)
