Chance Out of State

I'm a white female from Washington. My public high school does not give class rank, so I'm uncertain of what my chances really are.

GPA UW:3.74, W:4.21 My GPA was skewed by a C in a 2 credit class first semester Freshman year. I brought the grade up to a B second semester and use the personal growth/maturity experience as an essay focus.
Carried a 4.0 all Junior year with 3 AP classes

AP HuG (3), AP World (3), AP Lang (3), AP Bio (3), AP Psych (4)
12th grade taking AP Calc AB/BC, AP US Hist, AP Lit

SAT CR 630, M 550, Writing 620 retaking October 11 to bring up math score

EC's
1 year Drill team
3 years Varsity Cheer, with 1 year as Cheer Captain
2 years Link Crew, with 1 year as LC leader
2 years choir
Co-Chaired all-school fundraising event
1 year Assembly team
1 year book club mentor to Middle School students
1 year camp counselor for Middle School

Part time jobs in retail, fast food, and now a nanny

I'd appreciate any insight about how UT looks at out-of-state when there is no class rank.

Thanks!

My D was accepted OOS to UT with similar, but slightly higher stats (3.9 uw, 4.0 weighted, SAT around 1950, ACT was 29 - her school does not rank). Very similar EC’s as you. I think if you can bump up your SAT a bit, you have a good chance. Note that you should choose wisely as far as College to apply to. I don’t think you would be admitted in to the Business or Engineering school (I know my daughter would not have). She applied to the college of Undergraduate Study (UGS) and was accepted.

Good luck!

Gigem86, do you know if an applicant is not accepted to the major they applied to will UT accept them as undeclared or UGS, or are they rejected outright?

I am by no means an expert, but I believe, after reading through the many acceptance threads last year, that it is only “in state top 7%” auto admits that will be offered UGS if they are not accepted to their requested major. I found those acceptance threads to be very helpful in getting a sense of what the stats were per major. There are a few threads specific to out of state acceptances.

Thanks for your reply Gigem86! Definitely not interested in Engineering or Business. I will probably apply to UGS because I’m not set on a career goal yet.
