<p>Hi all,</p>
<p>I'm an American born and raised, got accepted into the University of Edinburgh and can't afford to pay the rest of my tuition! :O So I've applied as a sophomore to these schools with these stats, chance me please? :D</p>
<p>NYU (was accepted and offered full ride last year...:S)
Wesleyan
Boston College
Brandeis University</p>
<p>College GPA: ~3.3 on an American scale? Basically my marks are two points away from a first or 'distinction' here at Edinburgh; college official report notes that these are 'exceptionally strong marks for a first year student' and my instructor evaluation says 'top 10% of students I've taught in this course'. Think they'll take into account international differences? :S</p>
<p>ECs: Volunteering at Oxfam charity shop, Law Society, Folk Society, intramural football/soccer, lots and lots of exploring! (These are really weak aren't they :/)</p>
<p>College Official's/Instructor's Recommendations: Very enthusiastic, specified the difficulty of attaining a first at Edinburgh, said I performed exceptionally well for a first-year, etc.</p>
<p>HS Stats:
SAT - 2230/2400 (640M, 790W, 800CR)
SAT Lit - 700, SAT US - 760, SAT World - 710
APs: 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3
GPA: 3.7 unweighted, 4.1 weighted
Top 10% of graduating class
ECs: Varsity+club soccer all 4 years, Future Problem Solvers, various writing clubs+contests, ~170 volunteering hours</p>
<p>Basics my question is will they place more emphasis on my high school or college career? Seeing as they only have one term to judge me on in college (Uni of Edin has no marks until the end of each term; as a Law student I only have final assessments), will they look primarily at high school? Cos tbh my extracurriculars at university aren't spectacular, and I don't know how they'll look at a foreign 'GPA'... Also I was homeschooled until the last year of high school, so maybe it looks courageous/interesting to go straight to a different country? And NYU accepted me once, so surely my high school career is up to par o_o</p>
