Which schools did you apply? I think you have a pretty good chance for USC.
@qwerty943821 I did most (top) UCs, Cal Polys, Random Privates around the world…JHU, Vanderbilt, Occidental, NEU, Case Western, WashU,
Thanks!! I hope so too.
Bump. If someone has submitted theirs, if i could ask questions, that would be greatly appreciated!!
would submitting an art portfolio help me?
^ I don’t think you can unless you’re applying as an architecture or art-related major. Double check on that.
@ayyyyyyy i have the option, but there arent specific instructions on the USC website. I might do art as a minor. But I have a portfolio, it would be super nice to submit it right? Even though im going as an engineer major?
I would say you are incredibly lucky UCs dont look at freshman grades so that 2.9 will not hurt you which makes UCB/UCLA still within reach. UCB/UCLA will come down to the quality of your ECs. I think UCSD is a match/high match for you. As for USC though, I am not sure how that will affect your chances.
@crossovercuber i know my 9th grade sucks, and Im glad ucs dont see it !!
USC does see it, but they like improvement of gpa, but there’s one plus i guess. I just hope I wrote my EC’s well so that the colleges see it the way i want to haha.
bump
I think you have pretty good chances. Your unweighted is your biggest weakness but because you have shown such improvement, i think you’ll get in. Good Luck
Thanks @laphysica
What is your unweighted GPA and best sitting for the SAT?
I think you have a decent chance for USC (and perhaps UCLA if interested and can afford).
@ClarinetDad16 my UW is, sadly, 3.57-3.6 and ik USC’s avg is 3.83 but I hope they see my improvement. and my best sitting was 2070, but I never reported nor sent them my SAT scores.
@uclaparent9 thanks! I’m striving for ucla as well!!
assuming you have experience with ucla, which of the two, usc and ucla, is more competitive? I understand the applicant number, avg everything, and type of school is different, but in terms of ranking and percentage of getting in, they seem pretty similar.
Yes USC and UCLA are equally tough to get in!
so true hahaha.
Freshman year GPA will hurt some, but your improvement in your GPA sophomore/junior year is good. I think you have a good chance at USC. Did you explain your freshman GPA anywhere on your app?
@bigdreams23 maybe i shouldve, but it was an adjustment period and it was my fault. I just wrote that i switched schools, but other than that, im okay with those grades.
You’ll get in USC. Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19209443#Comment_19209443
