Chance Please? I ll chance back

Hey, CC. Looking for an accurate chance. All input is greatly appreciated.

So far, I am applying to:

USC
Stanford
Occidental
UMich
WashU
Purdue
CMU

Safeties:
Lower UC’s

I have already applied to:

Cal states (Poly)
UC’s

GPA: 4.26 UC/CSU
dont know UW.

9th: 2.93
10th: 4.15
11th: 4.47
12th: Not definite but positive I will finish with a 4.7

My classes are pretty regular. Met all requirements and did 6 AP’s total.

SAT: 1960, 2020, 2070, (2150 Superscored)
ACT: 33, 32, December score (34 Superscored)
NOT SENDING SAT UNLESS REQUIRED

SAT II’s
Math 2: 800
Physics: 710 but awaiting much better score.

I have a lot of EC’s, with leadership positions, club positions, and multiple awards. I can go in depth, but you get the point. Over 800 hours from freshman year to now.

Received President’s award for service and three congressional awards from congressmen and women in my community.

Pretty good Recommendations from my counselor and my physics and math teacher.

As for my major, I’m going in as an Electrical Engineering. I know this is competitive but I’m also considering doing Architecture, and I have a portfolio for that.

My writing supplements are pretty weak. I’m not the strongest writer and my UC Personal statement took me over 3 months. I know I posted a lot of schools, and I’m going to eliminate half of them.

My family is low income (under 50k a year), and I live in Southern California. I’m an Asian male (yeah, im the classic engineering applicant).

I hope this is enough info for an accurate chance. Thanks, post a link and I ll chance you too.

You’ve got a good shot at everything but Stanford and USC. Gotta know your UW for USC, but they’re going to like your ACT score and involvement in your community. USC doesn’t mind Asian applicants, you won’t be dinged for that like Stanford. Stanford is probably a hail mary unless your personal statements were fantastic, which you said they weren’t.

You have a similar profile to a lot of people I know at USC, it’d be a good school for you. Best of luck. The engineering school at USC has a much lower acceptance rate than the rest of the school, so having a backup major like Architecture is a good idea. You can try to transfer into the engineering major later.

USC: Low reach
Stanford: reach
Occidental: Don’t know anything about this school
UMich: Match/low reach
WashU: match
Purdue: Don’t know enough about this school
CMU: High match/low reach

FOR USC, IM GOING AS AN ARCHITECT MAJOR THEN SWITCHING. i HAVE A PORTFOLIO.

my essays are totally weak, they just take a while. I did this thread mainly to eliminate some colleges so I can focus on select colleges.

My dream colleges: USC, Stanford and Cal Poly SLO. The rest are whatever since I dont wanna go OOS that much.

Thanks.

@epicer i guess you can tell by my 9th grade, my UW is not the best. I vaguely remember it being 3.5ish. But I heard USC likes improvement, which is good for me. And Stanford is a reach. I would be content if I were rejected, but if my essays were pretty good, am I a match?

USC: low reach
Stanford: high reach
Occidental: match
UMich: high match
WashU: low reach
Purdue: low match
CMU: low reach

honestly, your stats are as good as they’ll get at this point (and they are good!! don’t worry about that) but to really stand out and get into your dream schools, you’re gonna need killer essays that really show your passion for the school and show your voice/self as well. the essays will be your crutch.

USC: Low reach
Stanford: reach
Occidental: same as usc
UMich: Match
WashU: match/ low reach( very self selecting)
Purdue: low reach
CMU: match

sorry guys, Im a little confused. Does high match mean you’re probably gonna get in and low match means you might?

i disagree with some people on here.
standford is obviously gonna be a reach but i think you should get into USC pretty easily, like 90% chance ur getting in

your ACT is good enough, GPA is solid, ECs are good but its not like it matter as much to USC
(also u got a congressional award? that sounds super cool wtf i want one! - never heard anyone in my area getting one and i live in southern cali : P)

^thanks, i appreciate the support.

yeah, for service, thanks!!

Just wondering, what can I do right now except for the writing supplements to maximize my chances to USC?

@lmw81198 are you basing it off of engineering? If so, I agree.

I thought purdue would be fairly easy to get into, along with occidental. And I thought umich and cmu would be much harder?

@ikim16 only know about umich usc and washu dont trust my others completly somewhat accurate

Update: MAYBE I WAS PESSIMESTIC WITH MY ESSAYS. THEY ARE AVERAGE/GOOD BUT NOT AWESOME. IM THINKING OF ELIMINATING CMU AND WUSTL AND UMICH TO FOCUS ON MY USC AND STANFORD ESSAYS

Updated list:

Carnegie Mellon
Cornell
Johns Hopkins
Stanford
USC
Vanderbilt
Northeastern
Trinity College
WashU
Rice
Occidental
