Chance please? :)

I'm a junior from one of the top public high schools in Arkansas. I intended to major in Biology or Psychology with a minor in music. I want to go Pre-Med.

-White female

-GPA: 3.9 (unweighted) and 4.5 (weighted)

-AP Classes I'll have taken by graduation:
AP US History
AP World History
AP Psychology
AP Liturature and Composition
AP Language and Composition
AP Biology
AP Statistics

-3 Years of Spanish

-Ranking: My school ranks you as 1 out of 600 if your weighted GPA is above 4.0. So I'll be listed as 1 out of 600 even though I'm not actually validectorian. But I'm definitely top 5% of my class.

-4 year school Drill (dance) Team member
-4 year choir member (All region all four years, all state one)
-Band in freshman year (Oboe-first chair all region)
-2 year "Lighthouse" member (Selective acapella group at school)

-ACT: only a 29 right now. However I'm taking it again in April, and I've been studying my butt off for it haha. After a few more times taking it, I plan to get a 33.
I got a 9 on the writing, which I've been told is good.

-EC's:
National Junior Honor Society(F year)
National Honor Society(S,J,S Years)
National Spanish Honor Society(Senior year)
Junior Class Council Member
Senior Class Council Member
Choir Council Board Member (J & S years)
Very involved with church youth group. (mostly volunteer work)

-Around 100 volunteer hours.

-Other things:
Attended MASH (A summer medical program at the University of Arkansas Medical School)
Arkansas Girl's Stater

My recs will come from my junior year AP Biology teacher and I'm not sure about which teacher will do my second rec. My school is large so my rec from my councilor won't be too personal. My essays should be very strong.
Thank you so much!! :)

Your GPA is good, but your test score is way out of range for ND. Keep studying and take a test prep class if you can - there are test-taking techniques that will help you increase your score dramatically. Also, be sure that you have a least a few leadership positions in your EC’s. Increase your volunteer hours, too, if you can. Don’t worry about the class rank, you’ve done all you can with that, and many schools, especially private prep schools, no longer rank at all.

@NotreDame2015 Okay thank you! I’ve been studying about 2 hours a night using ACT prep software and an ACT Prep Book. My highest subscore was a 34, and that was in English or reading (I can’t remember). If I get my score up to around a 32, will that be better?

@NotreDame2015 I’m running for a leadership position for next year in National Honor Society and Key Club. I forgot to add that I’m a member of key club.

Eh, probably good? Yeah, retake the ACT, but it sounds like you’ve got that covered. Hell, I had a 1290 SAT (of course, I transferred in). GPA looks fine. No one will care about the ‘reputation’ of your high school. Few students get to pick their high school (except the rich), so it’s unfair to the applicant pool to weigh that in.

You probably need a 32 bare minimum.
