chance please?

So, i applied ED to Pomona... and i know i'll know I'll have an answer in less than a week, but i want to know if i should prepare myself for the worst.
here's the situation: i did not work as hard as i could in HS until my senior year, i only took 3 AP's and that's my senior year. but i've really started working hard and now i have straight A's and one of the highest GPA's in my class so you decide.

also am in one of the hardest schools in the country in Fairfield County in CT which really does make a difference in the eyes of admissions everywhere

GPA: 3.8 UW 4.2 W (but senior year so far 4.16 UW and 4.83 W which puts me with the top 10 students according to our class profile, but we have no official rank)

ACT: 32
English: 32
Math: 31
Reading: 32
Science: 32

I've taken all honors except for freshman year math which i quickly got bumped up in. for language, i took german (my only B in all of hs) and i eventually dropped it because i was struggling too much and my grade would've definitely dropped to a C. for junior and senior year i've taken Latin I and II and have A+'s
Everything else is honors- no AP's until this year though

Senior year Courseload
AP Politics: A
AP Psychology: A/B+ (average will most likely be a B+)
Rhetoric and Composition H: A
Latin II: A+
AP Calculus AB: A/A+ (average will most likely be an A+)
Physics H: A+

4 years of field hockey
4 years of lacrosse
PTPI student chapter
2 years safe rides
10 years piano
5 years guitar
work experience as a soccer ref from spring 9th grade- fall 10th grade

Awards:
9th:
Achievement in Geometry
Achievement in Earth Science

10th:
Excellence on the National German Exam (what's funny is my stupid teacher actually gave me a C+ that quarter too! no worries though it averaged out to a B)

11th:
Achievement in US History
St. John's Book Award

Summer Programs:
10th: I went to UCSD for five weeks, took a summer course in Ethics and Society and I got a B+
11th: I went to Kenya for five weeks, participated in a homestay in a rural village and built a computer lab there

Good recs/ great essays (my common app one is about my trip to Kenya and it is really good, and my supplement one is about a time my friends and I got lost in the woods and it is one of my favorite essays i've ever written)

so what do you think?

also in case i get deffered (with my improvement in grades, i think that is what will most likely happen), i have done several things since school has started
-joined STAND
-FCIAC scholar athlete nominee for the month for November (which is actually a really big deal)
-job at the GAP
how could i tell the school about this? and also would it be a good idea to send in another recommendation since i could probably get a really good one from a few teachers

i would really appreciate if you would tell me what you think- sorry this post is so long but i really love pomona- it is the perfect school for me

bump please?
i just got deferred from one school... someone help me out?

hey-

the good:

your essays and recommendations seem to be based on a pretty small substrate... i don't know too many people that have gone abroad to do community service in kenya (actually i know 1)

combination of service and sports. Are you a recruited athlete? That helps.

work experience

upward trend in grades

Being from the east coast

Things that may not help as much:

Grades and ACTs aren't out of the ordinary but they do seem to fit in Pomona's range, which is good

didn't take most rigorous courseload ( or at least that seems to be the way you described it )

Overal:

Sure, you have a chance i'd say, although i'm no admissions officer so i feel funny commenting on these chance threads. You're from the east coast and have pretty sweet ECs and supplementary qualities, so hopefully that compensates for an academic rigour that isn't amazing (but still good, in my opinion). Then again pomona's overall admit rate is 16%, and not that much higher for ED since pomona isn't one of those schools to admit almost 50% of the class ED. It's hard to predict when a school has an admit rate of 1 in 6.3, but i'd definitely say you have a shot. Care to chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pomona-college/427982-you-probably-shouldnt-even-waste-your-time-reading.html

oh shoot -- i said small substrate... i mean't to say sweet substrate... mybad.

Hey, my ACT is a 31, so I think your ACT is fine! :) You seem like a very well rounded, dedicated individual. I can't really say if you'll be accepted or not, because I hardly know that for myself, I just kind of feel like it depends on what the rest of the applicants look like, ahaha. Good luck!
