Chance, please?

Current Grade Point Average: 97.2/100 (UNWEIGHTED AT MY SCHOOL)
Current Class Rank: 4/250
ACT: 31 (Essay: 10)

In the subjects where AP isn’t offered (Spanish, French, English, Government, Economics, Calculus), I take the most rigorous (either SUNY or honors). I’m also in both band, choir, and our select vocal group. I have given up a lunch and study-hall for the past three years to achieve all of this.

No takers? :(

Bump. Bump. Bump.

It’s hard to tell what the GPA means because we don’t know much about your school and how rigorous it is compared to its peers. Although the ACTs could be higher, I don’t see them as hurting you - I believe they’re in that threshold where they say you’re a good enough student and beyond a certain point the standardized tests measure your test taking ability and luck more than intelligence.

It seems you’ve taken the most rigorous courses available at your school. If the cost isn’t too much of an issue, preparing for and taking an AP course or two in one of those subjects you took high level courses in but not an AP course may be helpful, since you can write on your application that you’re taking it, the colleges know there’s no course for it, and it would show your drive. It’s not necessary, of course.

It can happen, but Brown is one of those highly selective schools where they can reject 7 of every 8 qualified candidates (based on an info session where they said only 1 in every 9 applicants can’t do the work), so who knows for sure. You’ll want to put together your application in a way that shows your passions and yourself in the strongest light. This will give you the best chance.

Thanks so much! :)
