No takers? :(

You should be in since you have great ECs, class rank and GPA are great. You are not going to try the SAT to see if there will be more choices of schools for you?

Good luck.

My ACT score is MUCH more competitive than my SAT score… that’s why I’m only submitting one. Thank you though! :)

One question, do you plan on continuing with any of your ECs in college such as joining the choir, doing a foreign language related activity, joining a performing arts group, joining student government, etc?

Oh gosh, DEFINATELY!!!

probably would strengthen your app to talk about that and how Duke would be a great place to pursue these interests.

Thanks SO much :D

You’re similar to me, so I’m hoping you’ve got a good shot. I have a 30 ACT with a 9 essay and EC’s that aren’t quite as strong.

I have a question though. Does your school have Spanish and French national honor societies or are those something national you join? My school has nothing for clubs, I’ve heard of at least 15 new (but common) clubs since I joined CC

My school has those honors societies… But I, too, have heard of many new ones on CC.

All my school has for honor societies is NHS. What were the requirements for the Spanish honor society?

Btw, are you applying ED or regular?

I believe you had to have above a 90 for 2 years and be currently enrolled in the class. It’s a national thing… You should find it if you Google it.

I’m unsure if I’m going to apply RD or ED :/

you look great!
I would just like to point out though that scores are BY FAR not everything.
I got a 34 on the ACT and was waitlisted. I know people who got in with lower scores, and who were waitlisted with higher scores. You look like you have a lot of ECs which is good, so pick one or two that you’re most passionate about, and try to let that come across so you don’t seem to be a mile wide and an inch deep =)

Retake the ACT if you want good chances.

your ECs are competitive enough for HYPSM. good job. i don’t think you need to retake the ACT, a 31 is a great score. btw what race are you?

i don’t understand this question…

your ACT is (this is just some-sort of constructive criticism) a LITTLEEEE low. JUST A LITTLE, so no one flame me. lol. if you apply ED, i say you have a very, very good chance. if RD, more of a crapshoot.

It is absolutely absurd that people are saying “definitely.” If you are Hispanic, which I presume from your ECs, then you have a fair shot. If not, 31 ACT falls in the lower half of the class, and I doubt you’ll get in without a retest. Remember, the lower half of test scores is usually represented by athletes, legacies, and URMs.

Also, what did you get on your APs?

Remember that you are applying from New York, one of the more competitive states when it comes to Duke admission.

Wait, so race and where you live affect your chances of getting in?

Absolutely

@hewittdy I went to Duke for a visit over the weekend. They definitely seem to place a lot of importance on your level of interest and enthusiasm in the school, so definitely let that shine through. But, I don’t think you’ll have any problems with that.

Looking at your stats, I’d say you have a 50-70 percent chance of getting in. Do you have any idea what your ACT would translate to, SAT-wise?

Chance me guys!
