Chance, Please

Applying for: Phillips Exeter, St. Paul's School, Lawrenceville, Loomis Chaffee, and currently looking for a safety (please tell me if you know any really good safeties).
I'm one of those kids that haven't really started yet because I haven't been really serious about it / didn't find out about it until recently. I'm probably going to have to squeeze a lot of things into my schedule. I'm going to be applying for ninth grade.
Also going to need a lot of financial aid.

Grades: I get straight As, but the only advanced course my magnet school offers is Math. School's GPA system: A = 4.0, Honors Math A = 4.5. I've gotten straight As in middle school.

Extracurriculars: I've played clarinet for 2 1/2 years (I'm trying out for all-district, my teacher says I'll definitely make it), piano for nearly 5 years. I am in 5 clubs; captain of Quiz Bowl team; Reading Bowl; Science Olympiad; Chess Club; Mathcounts Team.

Awards: Perfect Attendance since fifth grade; School District Essay contest, 1st place in Middle School division; 1st place at regional math tournament on out school's math team; Principal's Awards since fifth grade.

SSAT: Taking it in January, though I took SATs last year and I got recognized nationally for my score of 1810.

Interview: Honestly, I'm not sure about my interview. On one hand, I'm sure I'll stutter majorly (I have a minor problem with that), on the other hand, I think (hope) it'll be another one of those days when I can totally think on my feet. Yet to schedule interviews.

Volunteer: I did 44 hours since October of last year until May this year. Planning to apply to volunteer again. Will those 44 hours count?

Essay: I think I'll do pretty well; I did win first place in my school district.

Teacher Recommendations:
Eng. Teacher- Probably stellar. She really likes me.
Math Teacher- Probably average? I get the feeling she doesn't really like me.
Other teacher- Stellar, extraordinary. All my teachers really like me except for my math.

Hobbies: I'm a really good artist; everyone tells me so, and I devote 1/3 of my spare time to drawing daily. I also write every day: mostly short stories. Reading is my other hobby. I like reading a lot.

One other thing- will the fact that I'm Asian even slightly decrease my chances?

I think you have a pretty good chance. I, too, am applying to Loomis Chaffee as a ninth grader with FA, and I participate in many of the activities/extracurriculars that you do. The admissions office seemed to be impressed with me (I think they like kids who like reading/writing, which works to your benefit). The interview matters a lot, so try to do your best on that. I had mine about three weeks ago, and it’s really not as scary as it sounds. Trust me, they will make you totally comfortable. Good luck!

Wonderful Stats!!! You have a real chance of just strutting into the school on the first day of classes. Don’t worry about the fact that you are asian and just be yourself through the whole application process. I notice that you don’t do any athletics; I don’t want to say that you have to but it is good to have at least one. However your time is probably taken up by all those ECs.

Good Stats. Good Stuff. Good Luck.

Maybe you can schedule interviews with schools you’re not super-interested in first? Then you’ll get some practice and by the 3rd-4th interview, you’ll be less nervous.

(ok. I know ‘super-interested’ is not an actual word…)
