i’m definitely hoping that the letter will help! I didn’t do as well as i could have due to some family circumstances but i explained that in the letter. but i’m working really hard this trimester and my course load is the following:

Pre Calculus
AP Government
German IV
Humanities (it’s a two hour long class)

i’m also taking the february act, i’m realllllly determined to get in…

Well best of luck to you raspberry- if I can ask, what is your perspective major? Get your grades up and you should get in ^.^. If not, you could always take a semester or two at a CC and transfer in. Either way, I’m sure you’ll wind up here eventually.

Go green!

Political Science–do you currently attend MSU? If so do you mind me asking what gpa/act score you got in with?

Yes, I do currently attend. I had a 3.8ish (perhaps just under- I honestly can’t remember exactly lol) and a 33 ACT. However, MSU was absolutely the school I wanted to go to, even though I got in to “higher ranked” schools.

You’re just a border-line admit and that’s why you got deffered. They want to see how you do your senior year :). And yes, retaking the ACT will definitely give you a boost (assuming you get a few points higher). Tell me, does your counselor know about your family issues? If so, you may want to have him/her write a supplemental letter to let them know what is going on- in addition to your letter.

Political science- are you looking at James Madison or just PolySci in general?

Both Romani and I are at MSU. I’ll let her speak for her own test scores.
I was accepted with a 3.94 GPA and 29 ACT. However, when I submitted my application, my GPA was 3.86 (county changed the grading system during the first semester) and I had not taken the ACT yet but my SAT score was 1810. I am unsure of what GPA/test scores were used for my admission.

Go white!=]

^ Sorry, I don’t mean to derail, but how are you in the honors college with a 29 ACT? I’m very confused lol.

i was in the top 1% of my class and i took 8 AP’s and all honors. i guess the ‘close to requirements’ is what got me in.

Ah… cause I didn’t get in :(. I was very sad lol.

well, you can still gain admittance while you are enrolled at MSU.

No- I can’t. You needed a 4.0 last semester to be in the top 10% of my college. I didn’t get a 4.0

Ugh, sorry to hear. =[

HC is no big deal, really. Hah, I probably shouldn’t say that on this forum…

Haha I know, I’m not too broken up about it :). Lol

Kurdish born in Turkey, I speek Kurdish fluently.
Major: Philosophy
ACTs: Cumalative 28, English 30, Math: 24, Reading: 34, Science 24
APs: English Language 3, English Literature 3, Government 3, (I took them all for one semester) Biology 3. I’m taking AP Art History this year.
GPA: Cumalative 3.41
Freshmen-Sophmore year: 3.3 (no AP’s) Junior 3.6 (all those ap’s and honors in one year plus other classes and honors)
College courses: Psychology A, Sociology A, Ethics (in progress), Logic (in progress)

So I guess because I’m a philosophy major they ignored my science and math scores. I had an upward trend. I’m taking college courses (that may have impressed them)

Don’t worry too much. Your scores are average and because they accept 70% of applicants you are surely in the top 70 percent of applicants.

The OP got deferred.
