Your stats really aren’t up to par at all, but with a fantastic essay I think they might make an exception given your circumstances. Best of luck, sorry about all the things you’ve been through. :(

^Aw thanks, I wasn’t trying to make it a “feel sorry for me” essay, but a “how I’ve overcome this” essay.

Chances aren’t looking too sharp I’m afraid. :frowning:
I had a friend at a rival high school with a higher GPA, similar SAT I SAT II scores, and similar background of poverty, etc. He was a URM with an extensive list of accomplishments and a recruitable athlete, and he got straight out rejected.
Best of luck anyway!

sometimes what may seem nearly impossible can turn into a possiblity. i’m sorry about your situation but i wish you the best of luck and go for it!

sat scores are miserably bad

The fact that you have low scores but are in the top 15 percent of ur class will show cornell you come from a very difficult background. The problem is that cornell will have trouble seeing if you are academically prepared and intelectually on a high level. Its not going to be easy, but you have a shot. I wish you a lot of luck and I really hope you will get accepted!!

I think the rigor of your course work is more important than those scores.
What classes have you taken?
If you can take the SAT again, that would also be extremely helpful to your situation

OMG! I saw you on the Columbia ED forum:) You were the one that they waived some FA forms weren’t you?:)

I agree that you should be taking the ACT. It is oftentimes more forgiving. If you can pull a 28 on the ACT I’d say you are in much better shape.

Hey chance me for Northwestern

Rank: Top 10%

Chemistry: 790

Excuse you.
A) This isn’t your thread. If you want to be chanced, create your own thread.
B) This is the Cornell thread. Rude to ask for a chance to Northwestern?

Now ■■■■.

@Katy: LOL hi Katy, hey I obviously was rejected. Seems like FA had nothing to do with admissions after all.

And to everyone else, I didn’t think this thread would be so huge LOL. My rigor throughout high school was college preparatory, since most of the APs offered at my school you couldn’t take unless you completed all of your required credits. Up to date, I’ve taken 3 APs, and one weighted, state recognized course (Science Research), out if the 7 possible AP courses at my school. My schedule for this year is considered very challenging, so yeah. I’m taking my subject tests over is Jan, so I can’t retake the SAT, however, I am getting my ACT results tomorrow ^.^ Thanks everyone and good luck!

what’s the difference about the acceptance chance? we submit app before Dec1, Dec15, or just on the deadline, the earlier the better chance?

just wondering what school/major are you applying for?

Im applying for CAS as an anthropology major

@lovebirds, no, Cornell does not care when you submit your application.

All applicants are given the same consideration.

@chendrix, thanks. I submitted all of my apps last week. But I found a little bit typing mistake on comm essay :0
