Wow you have a great chance. Is Dartmouth your first choice?

Holy mother of sweet Jesus.
I give you a reallly high shot. Like, 75% in?
I’m highly impressed.
And scared since I applied too.

It is difficult to assess your chances for admission to such a highly selective school. My best guess based on your profile is that your numbers are fine, your number of ECs is fine, but that your type of ECs is lacking in the respect that your athletic activities are not strong. While you certainly are Ivy League qualified, the issue of match is unclear, however. We don’t really know what Dartmouth is seeking in this admissions cycle, and we don’t know what qualities you’re seeking in a college.

Your numbers are solid for Dartmouth. Make sure you prepare well for the interview and understand Dartmouth traditions such as Sophomore Summer, the Bonfire, and Winter Carnival. These subjects are likely to come up in an interview; otherwise, mention them, it’ll help immensely in connecting with the interviewer. My guess as a '13 is that, if you interview well, you’ll probably get admitted.

Dartmouth is currently my number 1, yes; thanks for all the chances. I am definitely going to prep for the interview, but I haven’t been contacted by Dartmouth yet. Thanks for the specific advice, randomkeys.

Why is everyone on this forum so amazing…except me? :/

altruition:
Great & appropriate question! All applicants have strengths & weaknesses. Quantitative factors are easily expressed, but rarely the deciding factor for highly selective schools. I could relate true anecdotes of successful applicants to top ten schools, but you would not believe me.

i feel for you altruition. thats how i felt, but i got into an ivy and i am definitely a normal person that goes to public school. keep your spirits high. you never know

altruition: i know exactly how you feel. I’ve read sooo many “chance me” posts for Princeton (my dream school), and now my spirits are pretty low because my stats are relatively sucky.

By the way, can ANYONE on this forum chance me PLEASE:)!!!

Unless he is trying to get recruited for a sport, and it doesn’t sound like he is, then that doesn’t matter.

You are a strong well-rounded candidate. The good news for you is that, imo, Dartmouth tends to take more well-rounded candidates than some of the other Ivies (which prefer well-lopsided candidates). The chances of an unhooked candidate (i.e. not URM, legacy, developmental admit, recruited athlete, or anything like that ) getting into an Ivy are just not very high these days, but, that said, I’d say you have a better shot than most unhooked candidates. Can’t quantify it, though, sorry.
