Work Experience:

Internship at Northwestern Mutual for 150 hours

The only thing that im EXTREMELY hesitant about are my test scores.... So far highest score is a 22 on the ACT ( i know, bad...)

Please chance me, i really am nervous about this application process due to my scores..

I would apply to IUB as soon as possible. The earlier the better since your ACT is pretty low for Indiana. I think applicants with marginal stats have a much better chance to get in in September rather than November or later. Make sure that your counselor puts only your HPA, or weighted GPA, on the counselor’s form. IUB has an optional essay, and I think you might benefit a lot from completing it if you express a strong desire to attend and mention your EC’s and your experiences in your internship and Finance Magnet program at your school. This program is well worth mentioning in the essay and could make a difference in getting accepted.

You 22 ACT was equal to or greater than about 18% of the 2009-2010 freshman class, so your ACT is not really that bad for IUB. I hope you can raise it in September significantly, as it will be tougher to get in when you apply in, say, the beginning of October, or when your new ACT score gets sent to IU in October and they make the decision among the significantly greater number of applications that they will be reviewing in mid-October and after. I would consider applying ASAP and take my chances with the 22 ACT score, given your great ECs, the unique business magnet program at your high school, a good essay that includes the items just mentioned (it won’t have to be a great essay for IU, not worth agonizing over if your are trying to beat the masses by applying early-- just communicate your stong interest in IUB and emphasize the magnet school, etc.), and your OOS full-pay status. I’ve heard of students with pretty low stats getting in in September or even better, in August, when very few have applied and the admission’s counselors are getting a jump on filling the future class. And if you did not get in early to IU, you could apply elsewhere with your revised and hopefully higher ACT score that comes in in October. It is a tough call. Good luck!

You’ll be accepted to Bentley–it’s tougher to get into IU-B than Bentley. My son was accepted to both schools, and attended IU-B (although Bentley was his second choice).

Bentley tends to be even more expensive than IU-B, but many prefer the larger city (being close to Boston, MA) over the midwest, middle-sized town experience of Bloomington, IN.
