Hi everyone,
I'm a new member and i want all the feedback i can get, be it positive or negative. Lets begin:
I attend a high school in MA and moved to this country in 2000. I started out taking mediocre classes but progressively worked up to taking 4 APs this year, my senior year. Now the bad news: My weighted GPA is 3.3 without engineering electives, and 3.5 with those electives. I took the SAT three times and my best scores are
CR: 570
MA: 690
WR: 700 Essay 12
ecs are volunteering, math team, empty bowls, and art club.
great essay i will gladly email if anyone would like to read.
my list is as follows:

please give me all feedback on whether i will get in or not. I'm looking into engineering or biology plz guide me in which one would be easier to get into in each school.
All comments are welcome.

It would really really help to know your unweighted GPA. Based on what your weighted is and what your unweighted probably is...

Tufts- Reach. Chances are you won't get in
Brandeis- Reach. A little better of a chance than Tufts though
Carnegie Mellon- See Tufts
RPI- Reach. Similar chance as Brandeis, maybe a LITTLE easier to get into.
Syracuse- Match. Pretty solid chance of getting in
WPI- Pretty similar to RPI, maybe a tiny bit better of a chance of getting in
BU- See Brandeis
SUNY stony brook- Safety/Very good match
SUNY binghampton- Match
uconn (ea)- In if you're from CT, match if out of state. Pretty solid chance of getting in
UMass- Safety/Very good match

i'd say definitely in at umass amherst, and probably uconn and maybe bu. the rest are reaches. i'd definitely still apply if you are interested in those schools, though. btw does your school rank?

i figured i would be a match for BU or WPI atleast??
am i a super reach for any?? i.e. i could never get in??

i was also thinking would it be ok if i sent in a separate letter that said i was a really good match for the school and that i would maybe cure cancer with my degree for that and only that school.

MythBlazer, the reason I mentioned that a few of those schools are reaches, is because of your GPA. Your weighted GPA is 3.5, when the unweighted average GPA for some of these schools are higher than your weighted GPA

Also, US News and World Report College rankings charges a small annual fee for full access to the site, but it gives a details breakdown of admissions by SAT grouping etc.

My predictions (assuming you have an outstanding essay)
tufts: reach
brandies: reach
carnegie mellon: big time reach
rpi: upper match
syracuse: lower match
wpi (ea): match
boston u.: upper match
SUNY stony brook: safety
SUNY binghampton: lower match
uconn (ea): lower match
umass amherst: safety
