Chance RD after ED deferral

This isn’t for me, but I was wondering what one’s chances of getting accepted for regular decision after being deferred early.

Anyone know? :]

It is often a bit lower than regular ED.

i think you mean than regular RD...

or do you mean ED? Lol :)

I think it depends on what you do. usually, they defer you if there's something wrong, but you can still fix it. Maybe it's essays, maybe it's your grades, and they want to see how you do in the next quarter. Call your regional rep, and get your guidance counselor to do the same.

Oh, and to answer the question, you have a better chance of being accepted if you get your grades up, or fix whatever's wrong.

If you don't really change, chances are low that you're gonna get in, since RD candidates are generally stronger as a group than EDers. The only thing that's helping you is your interest, and the guarantee that you're going to attend if you're accepted.

Oops, typo...sorry guys. Thanks to david for the correction.

Either way, continue to think positively and the best of luck to you. Brown is a great school.

I think that most schools give you a little edge when you apply ED. So your friend has to consider that in the RD round, they will not have that edge. Also, my guess is that the HYP EA applicants are in the Brown RD round in many cases such that the pool may be tougher.

Brown accepts the 1/28 SAT's s.t. I would suggest that your friend get good grades this semester and take another shot at the SAT's. The ED thread in this forum indicates about what scores/grades are needed. Also, your friend needs to send a letter saying that Brown is still their first choice.
