The main weakness in your resume are the ECs. It does not look like you are committed to a particular one. Also your SAT, while it is not bad, is still low-ish for MHYPS (not superscored). But all of these universities are definitely reachable. Good Luck!

If you have time could you chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1561013-international-student-thinking-about-top-unis.html</a></p>

We don’t have much EC
I committed in band for four years…and won varsity letter. Isn’t that enough?
Also sports and other actiities are so expensive

I think you’ll have a good chance for all of these. Can someone chance me at this link? I would very much appreciate it: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1563981-can-someone-chance-me-these-schools-please.html</a></p>

Think of how many people do band or other sports. Your best thing is probably that state competition. You could probably have used more hours though. Even if your school doesn’t have ECs there’s most likely nonprofits or other opportunities outside your school. I think you need less reaches and more safeties/ matches

^Bparker253
um…no actually not. there are plenty of sports but not much music programs.
If there are, they are pretty expensive(cant afford that!)
also why should I do sports if I don’t like???
Even that all state band was possible for me because my band teacher paid 300 bucks for me after I passed the audition.

BTW its really interesting that I am LOW MATCH FOR 108th rank U of O and that I am match for the LACs except Swarthmore.

Volunteering with a nonprofit is free…
And pretty much every school has a band. Being in band doesn’t give you a leg up over people in sports for 4 years.

^
I DID volunteer 152 hrs in rehabilitation center: I played music like 2hrs/day 5days a week

For UofO I meant very low match, but nonetheless not a safety

Sports practice 3 hrs/week 5 days a week. The band is not really going to help you. It’ll only help you over the kid who went home and studied every day and didn’t do any major EC’s. I didn’t see the rehabilitation center, but THAT is a good EC

^
you want to pay 300 dollars for sports?
Wecan’t afford that!

samMIT 108th rank University is not a safety school???

paul2752 - may I suggest that you don’t argue with the people who are chancing you? You don’t need to justify yourself to them, and there’s no point in asking for advice and then just being antagonistic.

I do think that your EC’s are pretty good, although as others have said they aren’t stellar. I also think that it’s not a good idea to apply to so many reaches, but that’s your decision. Just realize that it will be a lot of work to complete so many supplements, and you risk overwhelming yourself and as a result all your applications will suffer.

There’s over 2,000 universities, so 108 would be in the top 5% of universities

Also, rankings are not really a valid way of judging universities. There’s obviously a difference between 1st and 100th, but as to the difference between 108th and 80th, 70th, etc., it’s not a great way to choose.

^
who said that I choose schools based on ranking??
It’s true that there are over 2000 universities in the US, but know that these include, 4 yr institution, not purely research universities. It can include LAC, research universities, regional universities, and another one…I can’t remember but you can’t compare LAC to Research, research to regional etc.

I think your SAT2s are okay, but your SAT reasoning is a bit low for the top ivys. Probably high reach for Stanford, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Reach and low reach for Brown, Dartmouth
