Chance (sorry if this bothers you)

Hi everyone.

I am will be a freshman this fall, and I have decided which classes I'm going to take in every single grade.

Freshman Year
Advanced SpanishII; Advanced English, Advanced U.S. History/ Pre-AP World History, Integrated Algebra, Earth Science, Gym and Music.

Sophomore Year
Advanced SpanishIII; Pre-AP English, AP World History, Pre-AP Chemistry, Geometry, Gym and health

Junior Year
Advanced Spanish IV; AP English Language, AP Chemistry, AP U.S. History, AP Biology, Pre-AP COmputer Science, gym,

Senior Year, Syracuse University Spanish, AP English Literature, AP Environmental Studies, Syracuse University Physcology, AP Computer Science, AP European History, Gym.

is there anything I should change about my schedule to make it more appealing to a school such as Harvard ? I'm also taking prep courses for the SATs, I've written two articles for bar associations, I'm a high honor roll student, I do karate, I play soccer, basketball, and baseball. I'm going to form a club that fights against inequaility and I'm going to be in several other clubs. I'm going to work at the retirement home nearby where I live, as well as working with young kids at a nearby daycare center. I have and I am going to intern with judges, and my uncle, an alumni of harvard, said that he could get some if not one of his professors reccomendation for me at harvard. I'm also going to be working with a professor from cornell who went to upenn and harvard, a law professor from yale, a health care managment from columbia and get all their reccomendations for Harvard. My uncle is an alumni of Harvard and he has taught there, so that should help. So far, does anyone have any opinion on what my chances are of being accepted into Harvard? Anything I should do to increase my chances?

Sorry if this bothers anyone, just very nervous about college.

well, you seem motivated. Your course schedule looks rigourous. Its still too early to tell if you would be qualified for Harvard. One thing I noticed on your course schedule is you are only taking 2 YEARS of math. Colleges expect 4 years of math. You also should be taking advanced math courses- so you can take college math in Senior Year or earlier. You also said you will join several clubs. NO!!! Colleges want to see the opposite. I also noticed that you are getting recommendations from people in IVY institutions, that great that you have that access, but you want people to recommend who know you BEST.

Is computer science considered math? On my information for high school it said it was considered math. Ill just call and ask. Why would they want the opposite of several clubs?

r u kidding? ur a freshman… this is really sad

How do you feel when you look back at yourself four years ago? Do you feel like you are exactly the same person now, with the same goals? You will probably be more different four years from now than you were four years ago. Your schedule looks fine, but be open to change. You may not be able to reach Harvard, but you may also decide that you may not even want to. Allow yourself that freedom to grow and change. (I personally had really dumb ideas about what college entailed when I was your age, such that I though my local half-commuter college was about equivalent to an Ivy. Both had some smart people, right? And now here I am.) Good luck in high school.
