Please chance me at these schools:

Rice University (ED)
University of Pennsylvania
Cornell University
University of Southern California
Johns Hopkins University
University of Virginia
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Virginia Tech
Purdue University
University of Florida

I'm applying to the engineering programs of these schools.

Well, it’s all about the weighted baby. Therefore, I’m going to say because you are EDing you’ll be in at Rice. My thread is on here somewhere on the first two pages.

you’ll get in at Rice it’s like a high match but im sure you’ll get in
is there a need for me to chance the rest??
you definitely have the capability to get into the rest of the schools, Cornell or JHU might be a little more of a reach (but still a lower reach)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/546077-california-private-stanford-cal-tech-usc.html</a></p>

We had a couple people get in ED at Rice at from my school and their stats were comparable to yours. Since your first generation, I’d say that you should have no problem getting in unless something goes wrong with your application.

GPA might hurt for Rice…

^ Indeed. My school recalculates ranks in October and again in December, so hopefully I’ll crack top 10%.

How I wish that were true. ;)

Don’t mention the 80 hours of community service, lol.

Wait, why shouldn’t I?

They’re all my part of my ECs to begin with.

Rice University (ED)- low reach
University of Pennsylvania-high reach
Cornell University-mid reach
University of Southern California-high match
Johns Hopkins University-high match
University of Virginia-reach
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor-match
Virginia Tech-safety
Purdue University-safety
University of Florida-safety

chance me?:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/545368-bet-u-five-bucks-im-dumbest-poster-you-ve-chanced.html</a></p>

ED for rice? honestly I think you’re definitely in, especially with the 1st generation and the florida part since I’m pretty sure rice is looking for more geographical diversity.

everywhere else… I think you have a solid chance of getting in, with the only exceptions of Penn, Cornell, and JHU where it’s more like 50/50 chance.

good luck :D

I pretty much agree with sublimo. The only thing that MAY hurt you at the Ivies is your class rank (not in the top 10%).

What is your UMich GPA? (10th - 11th grades, no pluses or minuses, no weights)

Oh chance me please (link is somewhere on the first page of the thread…)

I’m pretty sure you’re in at Rice with good essays/recs. They’ll want you ED since you have the stats to be competitive at other great schools like UPenn, Cornell, etc.

Thanks for the evaluations, everyone.

Wow, I didn’t know they did this. According to my calculations, it’s approximately 3.78 (freshman year is where I screwed up; my UW GPA goes up by about .2 from freshman to junior year) .

Rice University (ED)-low reach/high match
University of Pennsylvania-high reach
Cornell University-low reach
University of Southern California-high match
Johns Hopkins University-low reach
University of Virginia-low reach
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor-low reach if OOS
Virginia Tech-not sure but why..do you watch the news?
Purdue University-match/safety?
University of Florida-match/safety?

Please, please chance me .. it is called ‘wow, i am SO smart it hurts’ it is on the first page

wowowow - what exactly are you trying to say about VT?

Rice is increasing their class size in order to fill in 2 more residential colleges so you might be in luck! just do “ballin’” on the application

^ NICE!

That’s better than finding out I got a 4 on the AP Spanish today, which was easily my toughest AP. :)

Overall your app looks really good, your GPA is solid and your SAT is solid. I guess just do your best this year and those Ivies should be Low reaches, if not high match.

Rice University (ED) - high match
University of Pennsylvania - high match
Cornell University - low reach
University of Southern California - high match
Johns Hopkins University - match/low match
University of Virginia - match
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor - high match
Virginia Tech - low match/safety
Purdue University - depends… thinking high match because out of stating
University of Florida - pshhh safety (Florida man here  )

[thread=546604]Chance me? To be junior[/thread]

Good application, good scores and such. Nothing particularly huge in the EC section, but a lot of solid things there.

Rice University (ED) - high match
University of Pennsylvania - reach
Cornell University - low reach
University of Southern California - match - Maybe high match just because OOS
Johns Hopkins University - match/high match - Top private Us like Hopkins can be fickle sometimes
University of Virginia - match
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor - match
Virginia Tech - low match/safety
Purdue University - In, Purdue accepts a lot of people
University of Florida - Safety/ Low Match - I only say Low Match because I’ve had friends who had good ECs and high SAT scores but GPAs lower than 3.8 get rejected. UF is really picky about their GPAs.

Chance me if you would be so kind:
