Questions:

1) I know that I have one "C" and four "B" how bad is this?

2) Failed both AP Chem and SAT II Chem (there was no AP Chem class) how bad does this look?

3) I switched to regular Pre-Calculus because I failed the first two tests in Honors, again does this look bad too?

4) I self-studies TONS of AP's and passed all of them, will this be a positive factor?

Thanks ^^

1) Pretty bad but you have a strong upward trend your junior year and nice SAT scores.
2) They only take your two highest subject tests anyways (I’m pretty sure at least) so not bad at all. Also, grades on AP tests don’t factor in very much and I’m pretty sure (not 100% though) that it’s optional to report all your AP scores.
3) It doesn’t look too bad I don’t think.
4) Yes, it should be a positive factor.

Overall I would say you have a strong chance of getting in but it’s not 100%.

just apply as a non-science, non-math major and you’ll probably get in. so how is this a strange case again?

Its not a strange case. Just another nervous student. You’re probably in.

Strange case because I have a couple of B’s and a C, plus I was in Regular Pre-Calc Junior year and 13 AP’s lol

@ kwwboarder

even though I got a 1 on chem, I should probably send in all my scores right? assuming I can’t choose which ones to send

@ TeRRaNoXiC

I want to be pre-med, so I have to apply to CLS

your sophomore year is pretty iffy, but i like the upward trend and 4.0 UW in junior year. and your test scores are well above average, so that’s good. i got a 1 on my AP Euro test, and that didn’t hold me back. and your subject tests are very solid too. a pretty good match, i’d say.

You only have to send official scores if you decide to attend. They just ask for them on the application where the directions might or might not permit you to select which ones you can report. Obviously if they say to report all scores I wouldn’t risk hiding it but unless they specifically say to list all scores I wouldn’t include it. It shouldn’t matter too much either way.

When I visited UCLA in 11th grade, the admissions rep said they prefer to see a 1 than not taking it at all.

Apparently effort counts for something.

You have good extracurriculars and strong evidence of personal motivation which should both give you a boost.

I was in DECA, too! :)

LOL dude you’re like 90% in…

Seriously don’t even trip about one C, and like one bad AP score.

I’d be very surprised if you didn’t get in.

@OP

You said you’re in “DECA.” Do you mean AcaDeca?

btw, I’d call your odds 77-23 in your favor, assuming you apply to letters & science. If you apply to engineering, that C in math could really be a mark against you. (as well as the 1 in apChem, if your report it).

SO WHAT IS YOUR INTENDED MAJOR?

1) for ap tests did you just take the tests w/o taking the class or are you predicting your senior year scores
2) are you sure you calculated uc gpa right? maybe you not adding summer classes or something cuz when i calculated your gpa i got 4.1W. UCs only allow 8 semesters of weighted points. (correct me if im wrong please).
3) either way you have a good chance b/c 4.1 is good plus your awesome SAT scores and AP tests- btw i dont believe UCs look at ap scores, they only count it when seeing what credits you get. ( IMO . -im applying this year too and my info is mainly from my research)

They are actually self-studied, so I got most of these scores before Senior year

I’m not 100% positive, can you PM me about your calculations so I can better understand it?

I received the National AP Scholar Award though, does that mean that they’ll know about the numerous AP tests I passed?
