I know, I know...I need safeties.

Would anybody like to suggest some colleges that have a strong English/Film/International Business/Law field?

I think you have fair chances. It's so difficult to chance the ivy's. But initially here is what I think:

GPA: Decent, but not spectacular. It is currently a little low. Most applicants to the schools you are applying to have 3.94 as their UNWEIGHTED gpa, not their weighted GPA.

Rank: really good.

ACT: Great. You've taken it three times now. That's pushing it a little bit. Definitely don't take it any more? You might destroy your chances to top schools if you take the ACT more than three times. But a 32 is outstanding

EC's: Decent. Adcoms are looking for quality as well as quantity. There are only a couple of clubs where you have any leadership position. I guess that is one of the most important parts of an EC. Passion demonstrated in leadership and proactivity. It just doesn't seem that your EC's display any passion. Your summer activities are outstanding though. Really cool stuff there.

Overall chances to your top schools: pretty good. I think you are going to get into most of the schools you are applying to. Some of your LAC's are hard to predict and Brown and Georgetown are anyone's guess.

Keep up the good work and good luck!

@ivy: I'm sorry I made a mistake, my unweighted gpa is 3.94. I was trying to calculate my weighted gpa in my head and gave up...so then I got all confused, blah blah blah and here we are xD

So yea, I'll try to change that but for some reason I can't find the edit button. T_T

Anyway, thank you so much for your input!

-huggles-

By the way...how do you make your extra curricular activities show passion? I mean, getting a leadership position depends on so many factors. Even if you are passionate, you may not get the position. Hard to explain...I don't know.

GPA doesn't matter without context, rank is all that matters. It's absurd to say bad GPA but good rank.

Hey Ink, my bad about the ACT. It's the SAT that is bad to take more than three times. I think you can take the ACT an infinite amount of times and only let colleges see you best ones. Woops!

And I know what you are saying about leadership positions. I guess the biggest thing is to not make your EC's look like you have been embarking on a resume building program for the last four years (which I am not insinuating you have done). And leadership positions don't have to always be president. It could be librarian or historian or __________. Again, overall you look really good. And the EC's aren't bad. Just don't join a program for the resume if you are going to be a passive bystander along the way.

(Just as hard as it is to explain the question, it's also hard to answer it!!!!)

I find this rather interesting; your English dropped 3 and reading 4, and your math went up 3 and science 3. Lol!

Either way, I think you have rather good chances at the schools - sorry I can't be very helpful.

Yea, people were talking about taking the ACT every time beginning 9th grade in the other threads (which I found...mildly obsessive). I was even more disturbed when I found my brother taking my ACT practice tests this morning. He's 12. -.- I sure hope it was a joke.

Anyway, I think I understand what you're saying and honestly, my school doesn't offer enough clubs that spark my interest. If I seem disinterested in everything, I apologize. I do feel passionate about some of the clubs I listed, but definitely not all of them. Some of them I joined because of my friends, others...because it seemed interesting at the time. Reflecting back, my true passion is creative writing but I wasn't sure how to incorporate that into the clubs that I joined.

I wonder if I should put fanfiction.net on my resume. Just kidding. They would probably think I'm a freak of nature.

By the way, ivy.

Librarians and historians? What kind of clubs are you in?

Just kidding <3

@newyorka: Haha, thanks for the comment. However short it was xD

@invoyable: I found that amusing, as well (too bad my dad didn't). I had a cold during the second test, so I'm speculating that the virus mutated my brain cells and made them turn towards the dark side temporarily. No offense to math/science people, of course.

Hey Ink: NHS at my school has a historian and my orchestra club has a librarian!!

...

O.O

Ivy, why would NHS need a historian? Is their history so long and eventful that they have to record everything? I can't even imagine what they could possibly record >.<

And a librarian for the orchestra club?

What is this madness? xD

Lmao, regardless, that's really amusing for some reason...

Our NHS historian takes pictures of the club, and our orchestra library is so big that we need a librarian to keep track of all the music. (It's not like a library librarian; it's just somebody to keep all the music filed)

Haha...

Historian? More like photographer xD

Wow, that's a lot of music. Though, I do wonder...what would the admission officers think if they saw that? I bet they would be so confused ._.

"She's the librarian for the orchestra club."

"...the what club?"

"The orchestra club."

"...Orchestra, that's like, musical stuff, right?"

"Yea."

"A librarian for the orchestra club?"

"Yea."

"...Right."

Sorry lol, it's getting late and I'm so bored >.<

I think admissions to any Ivy League are unpredictable, so I'm not sure about Brown. Your GPA is good, but your ACT would probably be relatively weaker for Brown admissions.

Since I'm going to Wellesley, I can talk about that school. :) I think you have pretty good chances for Wellesley. I had a 3.7ish GPA with a 31 ACT and I was able to get in (I think art/music/sports helped me out), and you seem to be in all kinds of clubs/activities. (Also, Wellesley loves asians.)

And some advice for the essay...if you're too embarassed to share one of the topics here, then I would think twice before writing about it and sending it to an admissions officer. Quirky essays are good, but you should always be aware of how much you should share.

Good luck!

Thanks catsushi!

Yea, I thought my ACT score would drag me down T_T -sigh- Such is life.

Your insight into Wellesley is incredibly helpful. So, can I assume that it will be a match then?

Haha, and yes, for the essay. I'm still debating on that. It's nothing too embarrassing (I don't know what you're thinking), but makes me uncomfortable enough to not want to announce it to the world. However, I'm not ready to scrap the idea altogether either. I'll wait and see how I feel once I write it, I suppose.

Once again, thank you so much for the comment!

It was very much appreciated.

Bump

Omg, you're adorable. I don't know anything about these things statistically, but if I were an adcom I'd accept you: you're capable, intelligent, involved, and interesting ('capable' looks weird next to all those 'in-'s ~___~)!

Leadership positions are overrated. As long as you show your personality, your interests, and your passions in your application, any college will want you.

average girl next door my ass.
I must be a retarded butt fish monkey by your standards

Aw, thanks Poseur <3 I wish the adcoms are as nice as you.

And rararachit O.o

Sorry?
