You sound like a girl who does well in academics and has lots of fun. But too bad in college, your tendency will only lean on one side.

Blah. That sounds so depressing.
Why can't we do BOTH?!

By the way, I didn't mean to come off as sarcastic. I was just surprised at how much you've accomplished in your high school years. Moreover, the fact that you yodel is even more surprising.

I went to the one in ktown. I live in Silverlake and so I was gonna go to the one in La Canada area.. or the one out there but everyone from there & CV high goes to the ktown one anyway so I went there. Haha. And my friends go there.

Seriously.. If you missed like 4 on the 100 word vocab quiz they made you stay after (it ended at 5:30 ish? 6?) and take it over and over again until you passed. -__- Sheesh.

An ni oh I'm not Korean. But more Chinese than Koreans in my area go to Elite.
CV has an insane number of Koreans huh?

Quite interesting .. your Elite is so strict to have 'detention' for missing vocab words. For the one I went to, they just sent postcards out to parents for anytime you commit a 'misdemeanor':
1) Do not do homework
2) Score below average on quiz
3) Tardy
4) Bad behavior

Haha I guess since it's in K-Town and Koreans are more strict .. wow.

I heard from this Korean guy that he had a Korean SAT class and you get spanked if you miss more than 1 or 2 on a vocab quiz ..

And also, I love how Elite stuck in 'androgynous' in the vocab cards. Hmmmm ... :)

Anyways, if you end up at UCLA, I hope to meet you. You seem to be well rounded and well-accomplished. Maybe you can show me how to yodel. HAHAHA!

wow, so many CC elite people! haha. i hated the review packets. especially writing down what kind of problem it was and writing down why i got it wrong. i guess it helped though..

LOL androgynous. we had the "bad word list" because everyone who pronounced the words at elite either mispronounced them or kept laughing when our teacher pronounced it:

banal
morass
largesse
titillate
assiduous
dictum
pusillanimous
affable (i forgot. i think there was some joke about your friend being affable and also eff-able. haha. i don't remember)

which elite did you guys go to? and yeah. strict koreans.. -___-; i love the teachers at elite though. haha. they're so funny :)

@ nikkei - i know! haha. it is depressing. :( but there's truth to it! heh. thanks you though! i'm just average compared to all those other CCers applying to ivies and stuff.. but yeah :p aghh @ all the competition nowdays -_-

That's how you learn! But .. especially reading comprehension. I write down why I missed it and then I miss the same type of question again next time .. so lame!

I went to Arcadia.

You know, gotta love the fliers/booklets advertisements thingies they give out. Every picture in there is an Asian student. I also heard that they took a picture of this guy who got a 2400, and quoted him of made up success stuff that he never said! In fact, he was never interviewed. Good job Elite!

wow so many elites... driving 3 times a week for half an hour to elite is not fun... almost got into an accident once for falling asleep on the freeway... which elite center did you go to?

You're from Silverlake? Oh, how I love you, in a neighborly way. I live in Los Feliz but Silverlake in my opinion is the best - do you ever attend the Sunset Junction?

I went to elite, that was the worst expeirence I ever had in my life. I am NEVER going to a prep school ever again. BTW i am not korean/chinese/japanese/asian.

but yeah.. LOL. are you serious? elite was so fun for me. and yeah i wonder what it's like if you go to elite & you're not asian.. hahaha :p

RACOFRAG I LOVE YOU!! I LOVE TRADER JOE'S! did you see the new pinkberry that opened in franklin hills / los feliz area? oh man. i could talk forever about silverlake.. haha :D and why yes i do attend the sunset junction! i go to marshall -__-

the director made us do pushups for every minute we were late and for every question we got wrong on the hw. that wasnt so good for me haha. but they did sell those korean kimchi noodle bowls in the vending machines. and that was nice. btw im not korean/chinese/japanese either.

no clue what ACI is.. i know elite is known for their boot camp though haha.

are you serious? wow. LOL :] we had this teacher karen for SAT writing & ohh my god. if you didn't do the hw she'd make you do wall sits for 3 minutes, then right after the people would collapse on the floor cause their legs hurt so bad. and then she'd make them do pushups, situps, or hold a chair above your head with your arms straight in the air LOL

i love elite haha :)
going every saturday for AP stuff.. first time going to elite for AP prep. to be honest i don't really like it cause its' boring & stuff i could study on my own. man i just wasted my parents' money.. -__- i doubt they accept refunds. arghh. haha. i only think their SAT stuff is strong, idk about their AP & SAT II prep..

does this Elite place compare to ACI? shudders
[/quote]

Not even close. ACI was the earlier generation of Elite, though, but they never pushed or disciplined students as much as Elite.

Only the really hardcore Elite centers had harsh punishments. Generally, those were places whose students were predominately by Koreans. Sorry to those Koreans.

I don't get it though. This punishment would make you tired, and which makes you less likely to do better in subsequent tries. I guess this Boot Camp is literally a boot camp. At least you don't get whipped or slapped in the face .. I hope.
