<p>well MICFEST AND LITFEST are organised privately while WPF is organised by the ministry of education and regional as well as nationals is organised by DST(if u dunno wat that is???i am sorry i can’t help)</p>

<p>arrre yaar … don’t you get it? MIT, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Amherst, Middlebury, Harvard are need-blind. Asking for aid doesn’t matter in these colleges(irrespective of whatever abhimanyu thinks or says). At ALL other colleges, you are at a disadvantage when asking for aid. OK?</p>

<p>OK guys sorry… what I said is my opinion backed by what MAY have been exceptions, plus a reading of economic situations… the fact that many endowments have taken a 10-20% (conservative average)hit and made expenditure plans of some universities go haywire cant really matter can it.</p>
<p>Who told you that? Please check the college websites. They clearly state that the financial meltdown isn’t going to affect their need-blind status. And they are not lying. It’s really nice that you are concerned. We all are. But the college guys are good people, they really won’t lie to us.</p>

<p>I kind of agree with you there abhimanyuk, the financial meltdown will have its adverse effects on both domestic and international financial aid, undoubtedly. what we can do as applicants is apply to a larger number of realistic schools where you aren’t competing for much international financial aid. Places in the mid-west (Liberal Arts Colleges like Grinnell, Carleton and Macalester will fit in this bracket). We also have to be realistic about our expectations from our parents and keep in mind how our family will be affected. Sit down and have a talk with your parents, see if they can afford, if they can without it really affecting them much, going ahead and applying without financial aid is a good idea. Your ability to pay will matter in this season of admissions more than or equally to your ability, so it’s best to consider that as a VERY important factor. There is no point in applying and realising you can’t go to a place because you don’t have funds.</p>

<p>Exactly what I’m saying, it’ll be across the board, whether need-blind or not, Financial Aid will be an issue.If you’re fortunate enough to have sufficient funds you should go ahead and apply, if not, don’t set yourself up for disappointment is what I’m saying.</p>
